man CoD4 looks friggin sweet! CoD4, Ut3, Orange Box, and CS:S will keep my gaming needs satisfied for a looong time! At least until Far Cry 2 :P

I don't know...I've had a mess of fun playing multiplayer in Halo 3 recently (on my friend's Xbox). I played the firt Call of Duty religiously when it came out, but the second Call of Duty was just a joke...plain and simple. CoD 4 was on the top of the E3 games list, so I wouldn't put it past Infinity Ward to come up with a better game. Still, I'm not going to deny that I'm expecting CoD 4 to disappoint me (I sincerely hope it doesn't suck though).

there are 20 to 30fps gamesi can think of on pc that are better than halo, and there are probably hundreds of fps games on pc

saying half is just hyperbole, i doubt it was intended to be taken literally, and subsequent comments were just intended to irritate you

halo 1, 2 and 3 aren't so bad - they're definitely worth renting, if only to see what the fuss is about, and they are fun in coop

most pc gamers who describe halo as the worst game ever or things like that, it's no different than the people who describe it as the best game ever - they're both wrong

Yeah, because the 12 year olds playing say Counterstrike are so much better. I've encountered just as many idiots playing on the PC as I have on the console. And for the record, with the 360 it's also possible to blast music to block out prepubesent voices and game at the same time, so thats a cruddy arguement.

As for paying $130 for a helmet and some DVDs. Well hell, why not? If you're a fan of a particular series it might be worth it to an individual to have a little collectors item. And making of DVDs are genuinely interesting if your actually interested in the industry and what goes into making these games. Its not like theres not a regular edition out there for those of us, such as myself - who don't want them or at least don't have the disposable income to squander on these extras. It's fanservice. It's what the people want. I don't think spending a little extra cash to support a series you like makes a person an idiot.

Of course I'm wasting my precious time here, with fanboys you'll often find arguing with them to be about as productive as arguing with a brick wall. Just be damned if someone can prefer this series over that one, or this one over that one or even being in my shoes and just generally loving to game regardless whether on console or on PC - and NOT have it turn into world war freaking three.

I would have to say F.E.A.R was worse then the Halo series. I will never understand the point of creating a game series and killing off all the characters you interact with. Of course, I'm still ticked off that I rushed to save Jin and found her dead. Then I didn't have the chance to kill or at least kill again, whats-his-name.vicsrealms

I would say FEAR is worse than Halo in 2 aspects, storyline(because let's face it, the storyline for fear was ill-contrived bs) and multiplayer/co-op, because the halo multiplayer/co-op was ridiculously fun. But the combat in fear was much better.

I don't get the hype around Halo 3, its just a normal regular game with weak single player and ordinary multiplayer that is hyped like its the most original and amazingthing ever created, it would never stick up next to a lot of other PC shooters, maybe the 360 just lacks of good shooters that an ordinary shooter like Halo 3 is so hyped? (And no,I didn't say that Halo 3 is a bad game)

And to the topic, CoD4 looks (not only on the graphics side) a lot better in terms of missions and the atmosphere thatcreated on these mission, combined with whats look like a very enjoyable gameplay.

The multiplayer gameplay looks like a typical intense and fluidmultiplayer gameplay which is of course very good altough not revolutionary.

From it looks like right now I'd prefer CoD4.

Technically, you're wrong, because CoD 4 is going to be in modern times as opposed to WWII. So it did change the genre for Call of Duty(ies). :P

But you are right in the fact that it is still a first person shooter and might not have anything new in that regard.

Apart from the story the second one is horrible, its aged badly and feels outdated.

of course it is, halo was just good because it was one of the decent console shooters. But there are tons of games for pc, including cod 4, that are much better than halo

@ DrangonfireXZ95: A shooter is not only aboutsingelplayer, its about multiplayer too, Halo 3 has a decent multiplayer in my opinion.

sp on the original Halo (PC version) was boring as hell. HL and HL2 were each leagues better.

The new Call Of Duty game (I'm talking only about the multiplayer, because the campaign mode in COD series is so linear and scripted to my taste, even if the cinematographic atmosphere obtained is very good) seems to me much better than the previous ones and of course more promising than the mp in Halo 3.

First of all, the mp in COD 4 shows really a lot of changes above the previous games in the serie. The customizable weaponry and equipment is more in line with the Battlefield 2142 options, and the add of the "perks" that can mold your own "class" of character, based in a cost, is really a nice addition. Things like make your guy more fast or endurance, aren't revolutionary surprises, but other things like your boy having the habilitie to launch a grenade a few seconds awoy after your death, or be able to penetrate light wall with some weapons, and another weird and unusual skill will made a unique symbiosis between the classical belic first person shooters of our days and a rpg in wich you custom your character with the armor, weapons, items and skills that you really want to joint.

I'm waiting for a good multiplayer to displace my BF2 matches, and with mp games like Quake Wars,Hellgate, COD 4, Crysis (Power Struggle) and Unreal Tournament III the scene seems uber impressive in PC in the next month of november. Halo 3 mp is great in consoles (until the launch of COD 4 and UT III), but the landscape of competitive games in PC is now much better.
