So at first i thought the game was just incredibly boring when it came to sound but i've figured it out.

I can't h ear any dialogue that happens while in game, i'll notice someone looking right at me and there mouth is moving but i can't hear anything.

Any ideas? Is this a known issue?

is it like that in all games? or just in cod5?? :S i had that problem in fallout 3, couldnt hear their voices during dialoges, but then i found that the problem was that the cables were wrong connected, dont know if my explanation in english was total fail there XD

Just with cod5, i originally thought it was just that my machine was trying to do 5.1 even though i'm using headphones, but that's not the case.

The dialogue gets pretty annoying, so that may not be a total loss. I don't need instructions repeated to me every three seconds.

I'll throw the smoke grenade whenever I damn well please!!

Yeah, but it's still very empty without the dialogs. Also, I noticed that my game actually has no music as well. I tried some solutions like setting the speaker to Studio Quality (24 bit, 48000 khz, i think), but nothin'. No dialogs, no music. Maybe it's because I'm using Vista, maybe not. I'm confused about what to do, and I have already beaten the game with no sound, only explosions and effects.

Hi!! I am facing the exact same problem and guess what.. I am also using windows Vista (x86). i have an onboard Sounmax ADi 1998 7.1 audio, I updated the audio drivers, but still the same issue, i read somewhere to change the speaker settings to low 16 bit, CD quality and speaker fill, I'll try em and see if it works. If it doesn't work I'll go back to XP... Too many issues with Vista.......

Turn down the resolution and AA and you will be fine I think. As for the audio problems idk.Try contacting Treyarch support on their forums or email them.

I reserched more an found out it's very very possible that the ripped version caused it, I think that's exactly the problem. thx. i'll test another version and see if it works.

Its a problem with shared by many cod games, wouldn't have thought it but it may be a similar fix to the previous cods like cod4 for example. Google sound problem with cod4 if you can't find it.
