if you don't know there making a PC map pack called call of duty modern warfare 2 stimulus package for like $14.99 (Pre-Oder it on Steam for like $13.49)

for 3 new maps and 2 old ones (the old ones are from MW)

and for 15 $ that's alot for just 3 new maps and 2 ones hell 5 new ones thats alot seeing they could let people mod there own maps but anyways

Rip-Off ? Yes Or No ?

I find it funny that it's rising up on Steam's top sellers.

13 bucks for a map pack? Huge ripoff.

I'm of the opinion that most (if not all) DLC is a rip-off but I find this silly map pack particularly so. I'm not surprised it's selling though. Like they say, there's a sucker born every second.

Even the Starcraft 2 beta has a map editor already, and they're gonna implement the thousands of custom maps that are being made by users into the beta. All this will be in the final product and FREE OF CHARGE. So no, free custom player-made maps aren't a thing of the past. Activision, SUCK IT!

would never pay 13 bucks for some multiplayer maps. I would pay $13 for them to get rid of all the hackers and cheaters though.

I never played MW or MW2 but $15 for 3 new maps is a total rip-off......

But, many many many players are buying it, so why should the companies release free content at all in the future?!

Sure, there are examples who still do it, but there's an undeniable trend towards paid content which nobody can resist forever...

Well I can only talk for myself. but if I had played such a ridiculous amount of a game then I think it would be worthy gamble. I mean for the same amount of money I could maybe go to the cinema and have some popcorn, and the movie could be rubbish.....or possibly spend another 100+ hours with some maps that are probably awesome. Don't get me wrong, I dont own MW 1 or 2 but I can understand those maps possibly being worth it to hardcore MW2 players,,,,I just seems like a ripoff for casual players.

Indeed. Those who fork out the €15 (or now €13) for the map pack are liable to be utter CoD nuts, so the two CoD 4 remake maps are going to be pointless for them. I happen to know one of those CoD nuts who bought the so-called "Stimulus Package". He got a whole two hours of fun out of it.

To be honest £10 DLCs are a rip-off. I've seen DLCs that cost £7 maximum, but never £10. That is called milking money outta CoD fans. It is a total rip-off

Almost all DLC is a rip off. I'd rather pay £20 for a full blown expansion pack that developers spend months to a year on perfecting.

It's even worse in europe 15 Euro for that.. and 3 of the maps are from MW1 What the hell, like IW doesn't swim in money already. The 60 Euro Pricetag is already way to much imo.

is NW2 DLC rip-off or not? this is a rhetorical question for many of us at this forum. we've said it thousands of times prior to the main game's release.

the poll is seriously wrong! we got to have more NW2 faithfuls here! after tipped $60 for a handicaped main game, it should be nothing chipping in another $15 or so for downsized DLC pack.

I'm afraid that's your problem - if you quite clearly see that there is a problem with the main game and that the DLC is downsized, and still you insist on having to buy it to be faithful to the MW2 cause, you need serious help buddy. After being sold a game infested with cheaters, a cheat system that doesn't work, no modding, no dedicated servers, no custom maps, infected with Steam on the PC and buggy as hell, it's difficult for most people to be "faithful". My clan used to play almost exclusively CoD 4. There was a brief period of about 2-3 months where everyone there was playing MW2, now there's only one that really plays it often. Most of the "faithful" have either wandered off back to CoD 4, BC2 or some MMORPG. I personally only bought it for the PS3 because it was cheap and the PC version was useless with Steam and no DS support, and I've played very little of it.

lol yeah 1 guy voted NO... he works for them haha. Seriously, well done you greedy S.O.B's! The game itself was a very high price in shops and stayed that way for a long time (I shopped around online for my copy). Asking for more money on DLC is just taking the P!

Its unjust to charge $15 for just 3 new maps... If there was some spec-ops missions and new achievements, then I could forgive them, but 3 maps alone, no its a total rip off. Activision ruined MW2 on the PC just to sell us this later.. Screw them.

For less than the price of 5 pos maps for a pos game you can buy a quality game like Peggle.

Definitely rip off. If the game actually had more, like maybe a weapon or new spec ops missions, that would be different. Instead all we get is 3 new maps, 2 old (of which 1 hate really much, it being Overgrown).

Those are games, no? So they're included in my original post when I said a game couldn't be hardcore. Hardcore isn't what something is, being hardcore is defined by how much you do it, how much time you put into it. Or how avid you are about a subject. Every time I hear a gamer use the work hardcore to descibe a game I can't help but lol. And purely out of curiousity have you even played WoW before?

I really don't see why they wouldn't release the maps with an update or some sort. If they really wanted us to pay for the maps, then why don't they make it around $5 instead of $15?

The-Mosher

because it's NW2...also, when they can charge $15 and people are still buying, why would they charge less?
