Ok so i connected the red,white, and yellow plus the s-video to the tv. Also the other end to the camera. What is next?

Wait...did you connect the red, white, yellow plugs to your camcorder, not to your TV? If the three plugs are plugged into the TV, that'll only allow you to playback footage from your camcorder, not capture footage from a TV. Your camcorder has to have the colored AV plugs in it.

what do you mean whats next? what are you trying to do?

btw, i never use it, but im pretty sure s-video is a higher grade substitute for the normal AV cords (the red white and yellow cords)
