So, I recently downloaded the demo for C&C 3, in my search for a new RTS. Its the only one that I really like that I downloaded the demo for (out of Civ 4, Ceasar 4, SupCom, and Black and White 2). However, while playing the tutorial, somewhere in the middle, the game crashes to my desktop. I get a very strange error message that I can't really understand (just a lot of code), but I can see the word "crash" and figure out what just happened. I tried again later, and the game lasted longer, but still ended with a crash.

I have a fairly decent laptop I'm playing off of (1.66 dual processors, 1 gig of ram, 256 mb video card) and I don't have problems with any other games of good graphical quality. Does anyone know who I can do to fix this?

I'm no expert so all I can say is make sure all your software/drivers are updated. If that doesn't work maybe try re-installing it.

yea definately update those drivers. At first I couldn't start the demo up at all and I knew that my nvidia driver was up to date, but I totally forgot about my sound card drivers. So I updated that and everything worked flawlessly since.

this could be due to heat. try keeping your laptop cool while playing and see if this makes a difference

Thanks. I have an ATI Mobility Radeon X1400

It doesn't say it, but I'm pretty sure its a 256 mb. So do I go to the Radeon site to update the driver?

here: http://www.station-drivers.com/page/atidriv%20mobility.htm

download the upper driver - it's the latest one, click on the Winzip icon where you see XP on the right , also you can download the multilanguage patch (it's on the left)

you can get direct x from microsoft.com. ATI.com has the drivers for ATI. nvidia.com has the drivers for nvidia video cards. Those are the two major brands. Nvidia and ATI. Microsoft ist he one who develops direct x. 1)Microsoft.com (Direct X) 2)Ati.com (find support and download drivers)
