So I just started playing C&C3, thinking that it would be at least a partly challenging game and boy was i wrong. On a normal difficulty level playing as GDI, i can finish every mission in 5 minutes because the maps are so incredibly small.

I know that this game was purposefully dumbed down for the average gamer but come on, you don't even get a sense of accomplishment after finishing a level because they're not challenging at all. Do the later missions get more difficult? If not, then the single player campaign is totally worthless.

The later missions do get longer and play on hard and do all of the secondary objectives. I think the missions would have been longer if you had to destroy everything.

The initial missions are short. Play the game longer and then comment.

And that is why I love C&C, and feel lukewarm towards every other RTS.  C&C's missions have objectives; there is always a purpose for to what youre doing, and they always change it up from mission to mission.

With other RTSs, its all the same; kill every single structure and unit on the map.  Towards the end game, when all buildings, units, and techs are unlocked, what seperates mission 9 from mission 11? Maybe a slight scenery change but thats it.

Yeop it hasnt changed from mindless tank rushing. Dunno why such a simple and uninagitive game gets such high reviews.

Maybe because the game is actually fun. That is what games should really be about.

Thats where the whole concept of a storyline comes in.  To keep you interested.  If a game is just plain fun and has a decent story (especially one told through FMVs) then you are having fun with purpose!
