Can 500 Watts power this system

i am going to get a q6600 and probaly over clock it to 3.0ghz i am getting a radeon 4870, i am getting a 640gb hdd, and i am getting 8gb of ddr2 800 ram. will 500 watts be enough to power this??

any reason why you are getting 8gb of RAM? Are you building a rendering workstation or something?

I'm no expert so I'm just say imo what I think about it and I say maybe but I'm wanting to lean towards no but I'm not 100% about that so maybe some one else has a better suggestion.

i am getting 8gbs of ram because i am going to install vista 64bit anyway so why not it is so cheap so get all 8

The Antec Earthwatts EA500 should be more than enough to power a q6600 with a single 4870 not so sure about 2 4870.

And you grabbed 2 motherboards a 750i and a p35 >_>

I didn't see 2 mobos just the one. Are you sure that there are 2 and you arn't misstaken? In the list that he has I only saw the one.

More than 2 GB ram is for noobs

or for people who want to run toehr things in the background while gaming, like a media player with a web browser open with a few instant messenger clients at same time, i dont want my game to lag at all no matter waht im doing, and what ever ur the noob u lurker

LOL get 64GB of ram if you dont want lag

i wouldnt even bother with a quad core, let alone 8gbs of ram, unless you do what another poster said, which is using it to render.

Well I guess he just want to try and futuer proof his pc. Wich is highly unlikly cause it changes about every month or so.

I see a ASUS 750i as the first item and a Gigabyte GA P35 as the last item.

There is no 100% lag free computer so your kinda out of luck. Once you go above 2 gigs (even on vista) then its not worth it at all the performance increase is practically nothing unless your doing very very special applications which instant messenging and web browsers aren't.
