I think for a 4770 you need at least 400watts. The card will run fine at idle with a 390 watt but once you get a game going you wont get the best performence. Cards Like the 9800 GT and 4770will run on your system just barely. For my confort zone I would have at least 50 watts more from the minimum recomendation. Mine is 150 watts more from the minimum.

you might want to look into something like this... http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.264835

Na the 4770 might be pushing it a little bit. I'd say a 4670.

sorry but that video card (9600 GT) won't last you 2 years cause it's almost 2 years old already.

Nope not really. Actually get a low powered edition of the 9800 GT instead.

A low powered 9800GT ? wouldnt that just be a 9600GT ?

In his caseI would get the 9600GT...save money fora year to buy the PSU upgrade and a 5770 or something...

Not really because the 9800 GT would still have more stream processors.

Thanks for the Link.

Please tell me whether the 5750 consumes less power than 4770 as given in 'HD5770 slightly dissapointing' thread

If anyone here thinks a 4770 will bring his system power usage even remotely close to 390w, is crazy. Just letting you know, that card uses like a 120w at load. Hi

i think we should make a thread and match card to psu. put all the card into classes and then give them a psu and sticky the thread. e.g 9600/4670 = 000W PSU (000= assign psu w )

5750 is the better option, less power consumption, newer technology and better.

The problem with this may be that people will give too low or too high psu like the graphics card companies. We don't know if a person has low end rig(like myself) or high end rig.

I agree, CPUs Harddrives,Motherboards,Optical drives, They all consume different amounts of power depending on brand and model.

No this is just what I've dreamed of doing since I was a young teen and it looks like I finally might be able to do it. No the economy isn't particular bad for me right now. I just can't fit a regular job into my school schedule very well:? . And I'm rather broke right now to be honest, can't even afford a new video card for my computer:( . But what I do have on my side is tons of knowledge! :D This kind of work is much more flexible and since I eat, sleep, and breath computers it will be very rewarding. Now I just need to get some people interested is all. Oh and by the way I live in a state without sales tax. :)

You can "ballpark it" with resonable estimates... Highest end phenom uses 140w, highest end intel uses 130w (i7) and it just goes down from there. Hard Drives, optical drive and motherboards are usually negligible, no more than 10 - 20w a piece. Its pretty hard to make a system draw a lot of power actually. Even with a top-of-the-line graphics card even high end systems are probably hard pressed breaking 400w at load, provided you dont got a ton of HDDs.

There shoule be internships in college for that. AfterI get done with training in the army I'm going to look into a computer technology major in college which would be paid in full by the army. Then whenI retire from the armyI want to start a computer repair store...thats 20 years down the road though lol

Sorry no internships in college for building computers (at least where I go to college). But anyway yeah please recommend me and I will be more than happy and appreciative.
