computers can use up to 4GB and i think some even support 8GB....Not that anything would require that much ram. Plus the only way you could utilize more than 3GB is with a 64 bit operating system. so yea Computers can use 2 GB of RAM.:D
If that was my dad I wouldn't trust him doing anything with my computer. Motherboards support anywhere from 8gb,16gb,to 32gb (server board). I am currently running 2gb of ram in my machine. baddogjmh
To tell u the truth, i never really did trust him doing anything with my computer...when i get my new video card and ram, im gonna get my friends dad to help me or take it into the store where i got my computer.

Well, older computers had MOBO with really low RAM limits. Most modern MOBO are just limited by whetherthey have32-bit or 64-bit processors and OS. For example, the max for my MOBO is 4GB but XP being a 32-bit OS it is limited to addressing just over 3GB for Windows Processes but the rest of the RAM, up to 4GB is assigned by the BIOS to other things like my graphics card, so it's not wasted. I do have a 64-bit processor so if I upgrade to a 64-bit Vista (NOT all Vistas are 64-bit) my system could assign all 4GB of RAM to Windows Processes. You can find MOBO on places like newegg.com that can use 8GB, 16GB and even 32GB of RAM so long has you are using a 64-bit Processor and OS. Getting back to limits of older PCs....my mom's computer is an older Dell and the max RAM her MOBO can handle is 2GB of PC3200 DDR RAM @ 400MHz using 1GB sticks in 2 slots. So a PC that's really old might only be able to have 1GB of RAM installed but if the system is that old I wouldn't want to be using to begin with and would spend the money on a better system.
