I had a Linksys WRT54G router which gave me problems when it would randomly stop working at times. I just got a Linksys Wireless-N Router(even though my laptops don't support it), and sometimes my internet will still shut off. I have Road Runner from Time Warner, and the fastest that my wireless connection goes is something like 54mbps, so would a new router increase that #, or does it depend on my plan with Time Warner? Could a new modem make my connection faster if I have the same plan though? It's a 2 year old modem.

I wanted to get it exchanced with a local Time Warner in our area. I don't have it near any hot thing(except the router), we just took out the computer from the modem if that has anything to do with it. My other laptop also malfuntions when mine doesn't work, so I don't think it has much to do wih drivers.

Yeah thanks a lot for your help, I think I have Westen or something like that, I'll go with ****** I think if they have anything like that. Thanks for your input, I'll see what I can do on Monday! Man I just wish Fiber Optics internet would come to my area already, but how expensive is it?

Ahh, I see, yeah I wish Virgin would do some major cities in the USA maybe with fiber optics. I need wireless, for Xbox 360, and I just never bring my laptop out of my room so I'm sort of stuck on the island here lol. If I get a new laptop with wireless N, it might make a difference, but I'll just hope I can get the best router on Monday. THanks for your opinion, you put me in the right direction!

How often does your internet go out. Is it every three days or so? If so that is normal with those Lynsys routers..that's why I also traded mine out like that. I use D-Link routers they seem to work fine for me. I also wish there was FIOS in my area. Verizon offers a FIOS connection which is 15mb/5mb for about $55 a month too bad their service is not available in my area because that is basically what I am paying now and my connection is only 7mb/500kb :(

Never had a Linksys, just D-Link, but i saw a review on youtube for one i was interested in and the guy did mention his old Linksys would go out every few days :? So he had to replace it.........^ PFFFT if FIOS was available i'd jump for a 20/20 or 30/5 or is it 30/10? IDK
