Hello everyone. Let me first say that I'm no computer expert and that I am long due for an upgrade--my laptop and regular computer are both more than 7 years old and I have not maintained them as ideally as I could.

That aside, I'm going into my senior year of college and have plans to go to graduate school for 7 or 8 years. I need a new laptop or computer. As my current laptop hasn't held a charge at ALL in years, I am used to having it grounded to a wall.  Still, battery life would be nice. I will list some important things to me in regards to a computer. Also, I have never built a computer, so I'm probably best just buying one from the store. Also, a laptop is probably preferable but I'm not sure. Anyways, I don't have high standards, but I want:

-Decent battery life

-Able to stream movies, etc

-Able to do all the basic stuff for school-related affairs (e.g., Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, etc.)

-Maybe one that can play games (nothing too demanding as I'm a console gamer generally) (but stuff like Rogue Legacy :)

-Will last me several years

-Has an operating system that isn't windows 8 because I've heard terrible things

-Also I'm willing to spend around 800 dollars

So yeah, that's it. I'm hoping that someone can help me. It's amazing how technologically inept I sound haha.
