Because I'm really getting tired of short action games, such as first- and third-person shooters, I've decided to fatten my shelf with more RPG-games. I find it difficult these days to find any good modern RPG in general, with so many RPG's being exclusive to the X360.

I love games like Diablo and Torchlight, where you just have a lot of fun, and don't need a strong narrative. Where you blast away and seeing your XP bar going up. I also -LOVE- long RPG's such as the Elder Scrolls-series and Final Fantasy VII and VIII. I've tried X and XII but I found the last one quite difficult and just a little... boring, it depended so heavily on tedious grinding. I wonder if XIII is like VII and VIII. If you would know other Final Fantasy titles that are great, please let me know.

Also, I wonder if Rise of the Argonauts, Divinity II, Titan Quest, Sacred 2 and Dragon Age are good RPG's.

I own a very beefy PC and PS3. If anyone could recommend me any RPG like the ones above, I'd be very grateful. Thanks in advance!

(A similar thread has been posted on the PS3 section.)

warhammer 40k: dawn of war's singleplayer would work quite well actually.

i also recommend the alien/zombie shooter series off steam from sigma.

finally guildwars is a solid game but there isnt much leveling (online play only)

Always remember the 3 B's: Black Ilse, Bioware and Bethesda. Although they are not strictly RPGs as such, System Shock, Bioshock and Deus Ex incorporate role-playing elements, and are, needless to say, absolutely outstanding games equally in gameplay and story, if I do say so myself. Fallout Tactics is certainly worth a mention - again, not strictly RPG as such - it is Fallout (same stats/items system) but focused on combat, and the game progression is linear. It is a very long game with very long levels.

Vampire: The Masquerade is pretty good as well, just make sure you patch it properly.

If you like space simulators you could try eve online, there is a threat created here today about the game and you might like it. It's totally different from anything else.
