Ive seen from what I can say is so powerful PCs running 6.0GHz upward with 2000MB ram but as I am new to the whole PC gaming world how long would a computer like stand before the games start to catch up and over take its performance and it will no longer be able to play the latest games.

nothing rigtht now needs a 6.0 gig processor! Not even for a few years. Heck, I don't think its even commercially availble.

Besides, none of that matters if your graphics card is not up to snuff. ALL the components have to be good for a PC to be able to perform as superbly as you want.

do you mean a dual core cpu?

cause unless you use phase change cooling...you arent gonna hit 6.0...ever.

6.0 ghz? I would like to see that :Del_carl

i think someone overclocked a P4 to 6GHz using liquid nitro or something like that. he played quake 3 and described it as "interesting". this was quite some time ago though. should be somewhere on google.

anywho can a high spec endure? well it all depends on what u want. if u want games to be played at max details at crazy high resolutions then no it wont. if ure happy to play games at something like 1280X1024 with mostly max settings but with a few things turned off then it will last about 2-3 years. if u have no prob playing games at min spec at low res then itll probably outlive us all :P. it all depends on what u expect or are willing to settle with as time goes by.

I built mine in Summer 05 and it's similar to your's: 2GB RAM and GeForce 6800, and there is nothing I've tried that can't run at mid or mid-high settings so far. To be fair, I haven't tried SupCom cuz I'm kinda of scared :P.

So you should be...SupCom is no childplay. That game takes some serious horsepower. I found R6:V to be quite demanding too. In relation to the poll, a 6GHz cpu will be blooming good for a long time yet, but 2Gb RAM won't be too useful for more than a year.

I would say a year at most running the top games on High. After that you will probably need more than 2gigs of RAM. I guess it would also depend on the speed.

Dude what are you smoking? A 6.0 Ghz might exist but only 2gb of RAM would'nt be nough to hold up that proccescer and you'd need a f***ing load of overclocked video cards, you can't make leap's in computers with singal pecies of hardware you need to have everything upgraded at once so that nothing will get overclocked or not be supported.

You would need a dual cascade cooler, and thats not even gauranteed. One to cool the other will multiple gases, nobody on gamespot is that xtreme.

For those of you who don't know it the two cores in a Dual Core processor do not stack to make the proccessor twice what it's rated for. A 3.2 ghz Dual Core processor is still only a 3.2 ghz processor. It just handles the way the processor handles things. If there is a large load on one core it will shunt some of the work offto the other core. Some applications are developed to use both cores at the same time but not all games take advantage of the technology yet.

He probably means CPU rated at 6Ghz. Like when you do the System Requirements Lab test you should have something like this in the CPU speed: You Have: 2.80 GHz Performance Rated at 7.97 GHz.

And what is your graphic card? It really depends on it too.

Ya, like I said earlier it's like the human body you might get a new lung but if you have an old heart it won't make a difference, I think that's a pretty S**t metaphor, but you get the idea.
