Kay; well here is the scenario, my gf is near me half the year, and in New Mexico the other half. She's a major gamer, and loves zombie games, so I thought a good way to keep in touch would be to buy her a Left4Dead game for her birthday this month, and we could play together online. But I'm not sure whether to get the first or second.

We both have Vistas; and while I think my laptop COULD handle it, since it can run Oblivion on full graphics without too much bad lag, I'm not sure about hers. Plus I have no job... money is scarce, and I don't know if I could afford two copies of Left 4 Dead 2. So my question is, is getting Left 4 Dead 1 still worth it? Would Left4Dead2 even be playable on a typical Vista? Thanks in advance, guys :)

Left 4 Dead 2 is like an improved version of the first one. And has new characters. But they also released a DLC called " The Passing " that adds the previous characters from the first one. So in my opinion.. Get the Left 4 Dead 2.. I'm sure she'll love it.

I see the second is suggested, but my biggest concern is can a rather cheap Vista play it? I don't wanna spend 120 dollars getting us both L4D2, have it shipped five states away, only to be unable to play it. I don't know her specs, but since we're both 17, I'd imagine her money is a bit low so it would be a somewhat inexpensive Vista.

Sorry it just sounds like fake ignorance when someone with level 15 experience describes Laptop specs as "typical Vista" "cheap Vista" "inexpensive Vista". I was under the impression that "Vista" is an operating system software, and so no actual specs were provided for us to give advice. So what do you guys think? I think "Typical Vista" will do Left4dead fine. For Left4Dead2 I think maybe you need a pretty good but not quite uber Vista.

like maybe a smidgen above "pretty good Vista". Like say a dash of salt and pepper to your steak. That should do Left4Dead2 just fine.

Sorry, I didn't mean to come off offensive. I really don't know much of anything about computers, I'm getting into PC gamers, so I don't have exact specs. Anyways; I am getting the first to not take any chances, and no, I wasn't trolling. I'm just not the best with computers.

You should get Left 4 Dead 2, definitely better than the first one...Or if you want something cheaper, you might also want Killing Floor.

Try Killing Floor. It's a bit chearper than the L4D series, but yet I've heard it it's pretty fun.

Killing Floor is a good game. it's cheap and not as graphically intense as L4D2. However I still prefer L4D2. If L4D2 is too graphic intensive, try out the first one. Don't they have demos on Steam? Pretty sure they do...

Are you alright? Take a chill pill, son. It's obvious the OP is sincere and a little on the young side. He's definitely not a computer pro, judging by his inquiry. That goes for about 99% of the population, you know? Shadowtails9000 - Follow zomglocats' advice and download the demos for both L4D and L4D2 and evaluate how well these games perform. If either you or your girlfriend cannot get good performance from these games, then you'll need to consider another solution to your desire to play a video game online with your girlfriend. Good luck.

Oh well, there goes that idea! Well then I guess the OP should consult the recommended system requirements and try to compare there to the specs available on the computer that are going to be playing them.... looks like some extra homework for the OP.

Thanks for the advice guys; yeah, I'm sixteen; bit on the young side, but I mostly just suck at computers; something I intend to take classes on. I have my requirements and can compare em, I was only asking because I didn't know my friends. Thanks for the help guys; I'm gonna play it safe and get the first one. I'll check out Killing Floor too, definitely.

Left for Dead 2 is basically number 1 with improved parts here and there. I would suggest getting L4D 2 and I am sure that it should run on Vista and if not just post again so we can try and help fix it.
