i have a core 2 quad q9400 processor in an intel dg45id motherboard. the mobo's brand is intel. can i overclock my processor with this motherboard?

As long as your BIOS options aren't locked, then you should be able to overclock. Not all motherboards are well suited for overclocking...I'm not sure about the motherboard you have, but it's just some friendly info to keep in mind.
