I bought this game from Best Buy, but my lap top isn't powerful enough to run it. Everything checked out except video memory. I know it's my mistake and I should have checked that before I bought the game but what's done is done, I guess.

My question is, will Best Buy allow me to return it? I'll take store credit if I can. I just have no use of the game...

If you have a good enough explanation, then maybe.

Probably not, though it wouldn't hurt to try.... If you put it on ebay in like new condition, you'll probably get most your money back, or just save it until you have a PC that can play it.

Explain please!

What's a good enough explanation?

Should I tell them that my lap top isn't powerful enough to play it... or should I just say I get an "error" when I try to install it?

Tell them, I bought this game for my nephew and when his parents saw the gameplay, they told me to return it. Or tell them my pc sucks and can't run it good.

I'd stick with the nephew thing honestly. Either that or take it back and bring your laptop with you.

You can sell it on ebay and only lose a little bit of the total price you paid earlier.

Best Buy doesn't let you return opened software. You can try the nephew excuse but they'll probably laugh at you.

Either keep the game for when you have a more powerful computer or sell it to someone.

If you have a 360/PS3, they might let you exchange it for the same game on a different system, even if its opened.

Have you actually tried running it? My laptop doesn't technically have enough video memory to run it, but I can still run it fine :D.

Damn bestbuy sucks... only if they sold used games. I had a great experience with Ebgames (not really PC related) and i returned a game a day later and they asked me if something was wrong with the game or i just didn't like it. My answer was i didn't like it. I got a full refund. Anyway on topic now. Ebay would be a good way to go or find someone you know because you could sell it 5 or 10 bucks less then retail and it would probably get you, your least amount of money lost. Unless you friends hate you and think you lie about it being basically completely new.

You might look into Goozex (never used it), maybe could trade it for something you don't have...

Say it doesn't work, it worked for me once when my computer couldn't handle it. Unfortunately though they really wanted to just switch copies but I coaxed my way into a different game. I don't think you'll have any lucky returning it.

Why not just hang onto it and play it when you upgrade your laptop or get a desktop with a gaming GPU?

I cringe whenever I see this site posted. I've seen it give wrong results so many times, and those people always say "But, but, System Requirements said I could run it." One problem is that it goes by manufacturer requirements, which are often vague and unhelpful. Another problem is that it's often a poor judge of hardware.
