for one don't get the 8800gts 320mb, get the 8800gt as its cheaper and faster or you could consider the 8800gs a bit slower than the 8800gt but cheaper and similar to the 8800gts 320.

you mite be able to run a 8800 on your power supply but it would be right on the limit so you mite get some instabilites. what brand/model is the power supply?

Ive got a new psu on order so hopfully itll work but i suggest you find out the excate power recomenations for it before you go ahead and buy the card as i made that mistake lol.

8800 GTS 320MB is now a bit cheaper than the 8800GT.The 320GTS is now in the same price range as the 3850 which makes it a viable card again.

Ya but out of those two get the ATI card the 3850 its like 180 bux ... which if i'm right still a bit cheaper than the 8800 gts 320 mb and the extra ram is handy for 1600x1050 resolutions or higher

The 320GTS and 3850 512MB are the same price pretty much. The GTS is faster but yes the extra VRAM will come in handy on not just higher res but in games like crysis and WiC which utilize alot of VRAM even in lower res. Also AA can utilize alot of VRAM even on lower res depending on how much AA you put and so does triple buffering and VSYNC.

hello, i know extra ram is good but my monitor is only 17 inch flat LG monitor and i will not change the monitor before Q2.2009 thats for sure. so i thought 8800gts 320 mb will be good as it is a little bit faster in the game than 3850.. i cant run game in 1600X1200 resolution becoz my monitor dont support this..my budget is very tight :-( i hope i could buy the 8800gt

Well the 3850 512MB is the same price as 320MB GTS.It's a close one as to what the better purchase is here for a 17" but i think that the 512MB 3850 would serve you better "in the long run".

However if you can get the 320GTS cheaper than the 3850 512MB than by all means go for it.

tnx thinker i appreciate ur suggestion.in my country the 8800gts 320 mb is going for $186. however i have seen in tom's benchmark that 3850 cannot run crysis in AA mode. heres the link http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/11/15/amd_radeon_hd_3800/page16.htmlhttp://www.tomshardware.com/2007/11/15/amd_radeon_hd_3800/page16.html

Well your link doesnt work. But keep in mind that most sites have the 256MB version of the 3850 in benchmarks and not the 512MB one.

Here you can compare the 512MB version of the 3850 with a bunch of other cards.Unfortunatley the 320MB GTS is not here.

And as for AA in crysis well the 512MB one definitely has a better chance of pulling that off.The 320MB GTS can forget about AA in crysis with high settings.Even though nvidia is better with AA performance than ATI,i think the 3850 512MB should perform better with AA in more demanding games.

And remember to get the 512MB version of the 3850 and NOT the 256MB one.If you cant get it than get the 320MB GTS.Either way you wont go wrong.

Ya the link you gave shows the 256MB 3850.That card will obviously struggle with AA.Just get the 512MB 3850 and you wont regret it.
