Im not sure, I somehow doubt it, It is a very well optimized game, make no mistake, but it is far more cpu intensive then I thought, If you would be able to run it, the best bet would be the sp part, since that seemed to require far less then the far more taxing MP part.
my advice tho would be to wait, BFBC2 will give you a really good first impression if you are sitting on just a mid range machine, but lower then that, and I think your first impression would be far more negative.

I heard it was tough on the cpu, i played alot of bc2 on the 360.
Yeah ^^ I was a bit astonished aswell, there are more players per server, but even then, My (admitedly very old C2D 3.0 Ghz) were under somewhere of 90% load constantly, when the battles were breaking out, Rush seemed to do the most.
That did surprise me. Whatis more odd is that my GPU (a GF260) never got over 50 degrees when playing, and itneverseems to dip below 30 (that I noticed, I do have EVGA precission running in the corner). Which was a very welcome surprise.
So either those last 8 players does alotagainst the cpu, or there is something else that makes it cpu intensive. It DOES look impressive tho, and a quite neat thing is that the last maps released (update 7 was it?) Has fairly big maps, nowhere near BF2, but they are bigger less crowded, and more tactical then the clutted smaller maps, they are a real joy to play.
