Team Fortress 2 had an option to make all the gibs and blood into the censored version, try looking for some kind of command for L4D2.

There is no gore in Austrailian video games???
Also, yeah.. What is a legitimate reason for you not wanting to have blood and gore in your games?
Am I missing something here, what is wrong with Australia?? Us yanks think its a hardcore crocdile dundee drinking all night, spitting in peoples faces, getting in fights and of course killing crocs with yer bare hands. Blood sweat and tears all that stuff. Are we wrong, has it turned into a nanny state like great britain? You all need to get rid of whoever is running the show down under and TAKE THE POWER BACK!!!
This is truly sad day indeed:(

Its mainly because of the lack of R18+ rating for video-games in Australia, which means that if a game cannot be rated 15+ here it is refused classification and unfit to sell to the public. And the fact Michael Atkinson (imagine Jack Thompson in a position of power) has been blocking attempts to bring in a R18+ rating. That's the reason why we don't get R18+ games.
Found something, I don't have the game but you can try this, "In steam you can select Properties on L4D2 and in launch options type in "-lv"."
Just out of curosity are you not fond or blood or do you have a kid that you don't want to see the blood? I'm only asking because if it is a kid then you could probably set up a child lock for one of the many programs that will auotmatically do it when he uses the computer or plays with you.
Yep, my friend has it and the zombies when chopped turn into a pile of pixels and melt away....Get somebody from Australia to buy the game for you, will be the same price, just will be Low Violence (bodies disappear, no blood etc)

I don't have the game but I remember reading that the "-lv" (low violence) switch in the launch options removes gore. The sequel to my fallout 3 post. No there is plenty, we just have a horribly inconsistent rating system, and L4D2 was censored for our region's release. Admit you are squeamish, have an issue with gore, young, or that you are abiding by your parents/relatives etc. There is no gore in Austrailian video games???

Why in the world would you buy a L4D game and turn off the gore? That's like.. taking away 70% of the game's goodness. Can't even imagine how freaking boring L4D2 would be without the gore.

So graphics are what make the game good, eh?
Yes! Partially.[QUOTE="Litchie"]

L4D2's visuals, particularly the gore actually do allot to enhance the atmosphere - action and player agency. Same with games from Okami to Gears of War.[QUOTE="Litchie"]

Well yes, in terms of helping the defining of an atmosphere, adding to the immersion factor, field of view, character development. Just to name a few aspects.
