I am buying a new laptop, and the problem is, well, the HP website mislead me with purchasing the customized laptop with only 1 gig of ram instead of the 2 gigs that I wanted.

Now, I called on the phone complaining, and the lady decided to send in $100 credit for the troubles, telling me to upgrade my ram via a memory stick or something.

Is this an easy process to do? How much will it cost to boost my ram by one gig to make it two gigs? Can someone explain the process of how to go about doing this? Thanks for the trouble.

Flip your laptop over. If you look at the bottom there should be a hatch held shut by a single screw. Underneath it are the RAM slots. In order for me to recommend you some RAM, I need to know what slots you have. Download a program called CPU-Z from cpuid.com.

What does it say under the SPD tab in the Max Bandwidth box?

Haha. I mentioned that I was going to buy one. As in, it needs to be shipped to my house, and then then we'll discuss it.

Well, thanks for the help nonetheless. I just want to know if it's an easy installation.

Yeah, just orient the RAM stick vertically and press down. Make sure it's flipped the right way, though.
