Can I use my Laptop screen to output PS3 Video?

I've got a HDMI Cable and my Laptop has a HDMI Slot.

No, because thats a HDMI OUT, it only outputs video/audio, doesn't receive anything.

I'm no gadget geek, but both sides of the HDMI Cable and ports look excatly the same.

has nothing to do with the cable. the port on your laptop only sends out video to an HDTV or projector. you cant plug your ps3 into it, nothing will happen.

yeah I've researched this before. You can't use your laptop as a monitor, since it is only HDMI out. You could possibly damage your hardware by trying to send a signal into your laptop.

Nope. The only way to display an outside signal on a laptop screen is to use a TV tuner or some kind. Unfortunately, they're either prohitively expensive or terrible quality, and in either case will introduce signal lag making playing most games difficult to impossible. And cheaper options will limit you to 480i. At that point you might as well just buy a $100 computer monitor with HDMI, as it's cheaper and will serve you better.
