most laptops (95% +) don't support upgrading graphics card. So i think you will have to buy a new one if you want better graphics

Laptop motherboards are really a pain to find. Not to mention that they will cost you an arm and a leg. That means almost the whole price of the new laptop of your series.

Motherboard has to be the same size as the previous motherboard so in almost all situations that means a different motherboard for different series of laptop.

And then finnaly, If by any chance there exists a better laptop motherboard with prefered graphics card from the VAIO series you can finnaly buy it if they even sell them.

So, trust me. Upgrading a laptop graphics is a mission impossible . So much less pain in ass you will get with just buying a better one instead of driving yourself crazy.

I can tell you right now that no Sony VAIO notebook has ever had the ability to support upgradeable graphics, much less user-upgradeable graphics. Your only recourse is to count your losses, sell the thing for some cash (wipe the hard drive(s) first!), and put the money toward a new notebook with a better GPU.

NVIDIA did try maxing the MXM system, and ATi with Axiom for the ability to have upgradeable, discrete graphics. Problem is, no notebook manufacturer (except very, very niche markets) ever followed suit. Laptop makers don't want you to upgrade. They want you to buy another one.

for playing games only you can have a desktop. Although it's 0% as good as laptop but if gaming is what you only do, then i guess you'd be thinking about that.

If you buy a sufficiently spec'd laptop it will last you through about 2-3 years of games, the same as a desktop would without upgrades.

A gaming laptop would also cost you a lot more than a desktop of the same spec that would last you 2-3 years with no upgrade, at least from what i've seen. I'm sure they have them cheaper somewhere.

Most laptop graphics cards aren't very powerfull anyways because then the battery would die too quick. the 8600 and 9500 are mid-ranged GFX cards for the laptop that you will find in the price range of $1400-$2500. If you want a good laptop gfx card like the 8800, then you will be looking at $3000+ for your laptop. So in the end it's not worth it. If you want a laptop, don't expect to game with good graphics/performance. If you want to game, build a desktop!
