If you have a PCI-E x16 slot and a 300W Power Supply with 18A on the 12V rail,then you can handle a 8600GT.

I ran a 8600GT on my PC with a 300 watt supply for a bit. No problems, it worked fine. I had used a BFG 8600GT OC. Since then upgraded though.

The following answer suggested running the geforce 8600 GT with a 300-watt power supply:"300W Power Supply with 18A on the 12V rail": Is there a hookup for supplying 18a on the 12v rail?

What is the 12v rail? Is it a connectiot between the graphics card to the power supply? Do i obtain it separately from the card.

I must replace the 8300 gs on my PC, and am getting desperate trying to find a card that works with a 300-watt supply.

Please help.
