I'm wondering if my parents have installed some sort of parental control software(like this one: http://www.spy-tech-monitoring.com/spytech-sentrypc.html ) to monitor what I'm looking at. Is there any way to find out? I've gone on to system preferences, to the parental control, but it said there were no user accounts to manage. Can they make it completely undetectable? Is it possible for them to look at what I'm going on without me knowing at all? Because I'm EXTREMELY concerned with my privacy sometimes. I don't go on anything harmful, but if they saw what I went on I would be teased quite a bit.

What kinda parents do you have? This sounds more like paranoia to me.

Wanna find out? Go look at some REALLY FREAKY stuff on the net. That's gonna scare them so much they wont have any other choice but to ask! Then you shove the "I lured you out of your little games on purpose!" card in there faces.

Honestly though, I dunno how to check for that stuff. Maybe your being a bit paranoid?

Nope, unless they known any techniques how to alter the OS. In order for you to not have control over User Management, there must be another administrator account on the PC (in other words, your parents). Sound a bit paranoid there.

You're not over 17? And I have no idea how to disable it or how to check it, I think you're a bit paranoid, I'm sure your parents didn't install it on your computer :), by the way how old are you? I'm curious :)

first off how old are you, second, google is your best friend for finding out "how to do" things, such as detect computer monitoring software.

Just that, how the hell would we know? If there is some software on it detecting what you look at, you would most likely know. Check your Program Files (if your a PC, C:\Program Files) and search for any software that sounds like Parental Controls.

Eh, sorry. Just tryin to explain to him that it was probably not likely as his reasons did not sound like any big enough clues.

... yes they can; the programs come made that way, they don't want you to know they're spying on you.... and yes, you can find out if there's one running on your PC; but it's really pointless to tell how to look for it, because you won't be able to do anything about it. There is no wayYOU will be able to turn it off, look at it or anything ( it's PW protected ) andalso, then they will know you've been snooping around looking for it. You'd be better off just asking them, see what kind of answer you get. If they attached a "keylogger", you can't detect that one ( unless of course, it's remote; then that would be from some kind of viral hacker and your problems are alot bigger than you think lol , let's hopethat's not going on), but you can look on the back of your PC to see if there's anything stange looking attached back there; but again, if you mess with it or look for it with mouse and keyboard, they'll know. Just ask them, it'll be alright... good luck

Dude, just ask them. They'll trust you more if you take the initiative to be concerned about privacy and the maturity to bring it up face to face.

There are ways to remove and find programs even if they are hiden... However because you dont even know how to find if a program is installed or not i dont recommend that you play around with the computer.

My suggestion is alot easier...

Ask your parents.

Actually you can bypass all software they've installed by using a Linux live CD. Then just delete the parental controls system files or just use the disk whenever you want to bypass it. Anyway if you want to find out search something like your favourite animal or cartoon series followed by the word "porn". If it's just a monitor you're parents should make it quite obvious and if it's a blocker you should also find out pretty quickly.

Heh, i'm of the belief that if a kid is clever enough to bypass a filter then he's mature enough to see what's behind it.
