I didn't realize my PC was still on and now my PSU seems to have become insufficient. The PC restarts whenever I try and run something This happened a week or so ago and I haven't been able to do ANYTHING since it happened. Firefox, aim, ccleaner, and WMP are the only things that work.

I've run various Antivirusii and I've run Memtest86, nothing.

Also, I was using a Rosewill 550, is this a better replacement?

Never heard of installing RAM in killing a power supply...

I say that replacement one is an overkill - go for a Corsair one.

You're not going to damage your PSU by doing that, but it's very like to cause bad things to the ram. Why did you pull it out and did you put it back in afterwards? Random reboots are a sign of bad ram or overheating chips.

Still how the hell did you manage to pull that out while it is still on? It's hard not to notice.

Well, I have 2GB in and I decided to put in an extra 512MB stick. It made my PC act funny, so I used Windows Shutdown, not realizing that it doesn't shut down my PC, only restarts it and took out the RAM as it was booting back up.

Will it only mess up the stick I pulled out, or could it mess up the others as well?

I already explained that. Also, how old is the RAM, or the PSU? The ram is kind of old, I pulled it out of another PC. The PSU I bought last November.

So let me get this straight...

You pulled a ram stick out of your mobo with your PC/PSU on?
While I have no background in electrical engineering, my small amount of knowledge on the subject, from physics, would tell me it is quite possible that you just messed up a cap/filter on your PSU.

While the intricacies of ram, other than the good overclocking modules, are unknown to me, I also could see the ram being damaged.
