Howdy,

I've never played WOW or any of these types of games before. I'm interested in Conan, but don't understand pricing.

A 30 day card means what exactly, on Conan's site it say 30 days of 'play time'. Which to me would say 24 hours x 30, which wouldn't make sense.

I'm out of town 2 weeks of the month and sometimes 3, so if's it just 30 days from the time I start, that's not going to work out. Or everytime I log in to play does that count as 1 day??

So exactly how does this work?

Thanks.

Its simply 30 calender days. If you're out of town that much I don't think an MMO would really be worth it for you.

thanks for the replies.

I can't believe game companies can get away with that! I don't care how good the game is that's freakin nuts. I guess I'm out until a game comes along that charges for the time actually played. You'd think they must be pricing alot of the casual gamers out of of these types of games, too bad.

With you being gone that often I get it, but they are hardly pricing themselves out of casual gamers' range. 50cents a day is hardly bank breaking.

not sure if its gonna be like this but it might be worth checking out some like the agency when it hits as I think thats gonna use a micro transaction type payment method ie pay for what you use ie items/maps/areas.. if your into that type of thing there is plenty of asian type MMOs that use that style of setup

Get away with what? Its not as if it's a single player game they're charging money to play. It costs money for servers/maintenence/bandwidth and constant additions/patches in MMOs. I realize it's hard for someone for somebody who has never played an MMO to understand, but in the end I think it's a bargain. $15/month for unlimited gameplay, vs spending $50 for a game that lasts less than 10hrs....Hmm.

I don't know of any MMO that has been marketed for casual gamers. They're not games you can pick up, play for 30 minutes while feeling as if you accomplished something. They're games you sometimes need to spend 8+hrs (during raids/certain quests) to get the rewards. As I said, it doesn't sound like MMOs would be worth it to you.

Counter-Strike: Source is what...$10? And that has what I'd consider unlimited gameplay.

It seems pretty obvious he's addressing game value versus single player games.

Which is why I'm pointing out it's extremely silly to compare an MMO to a singleplayer (or non-MMO) game and act like it's the better deal. If you were going to make it a fair comparison - you'd atleast compare it ot a multiplayer game.

It's pretty much the same way with any subscription based service. Buying an internet connection for a month doesn't count how often you use it.

Then you have no idea what it costs to upkeep such a game. MMO's cost far more to develop and upkeep than a single player or a low level (2 - 64 player) game would.

Don't let ignorance befoul you....

What is wrong with you? Are you trying to sound smart... do you know what befoul even means? let it go dude, it was a comment in regard to my surprise at the moment. Okay so you guys made your point on the cost, I don't care, why would I want to pay for something I'm not around to play. That was the whole point if you actually read the post. I made no comment in regard to single player vs MMO or whatever. Go back under your rock.

Thanks to the guy above who mentioned Agency and the Asian MMO's I'll look into those, maybe it's something more along the lines of what I'm looking for.

Then go away and stop embarrassing yourself. The cost to upkeep a game like this goes beyond the time you tyake to play it.

You seriously sound like some pauper that cannot afford to play a game he really wants to play.

If the moral implications prevent you from getting "into it" then do so quietly. Otherwise, you sound like a fool.

Idiot. Did you read the first post or are you just trying to be an a@@? Moral implications? Pauper? embarrassing myself on a gamespot forum? WTF dude, your just being a moron. Do you have anything valid to say?

I spend too much on games already actually, not that any of your points actually have any merit. What does it matter to you what I can or can't afford. Good thing you can hide behind your monitor you little sh!t.

LOL I think this thread is full of hardcore MMO fans.

Honestly, you will get biased answer OP, I mean, like, flaming.

All I can see is people just throwing some random useless comments. On the contrary Ive seen some threads where it is full of arguments againts MMO pricing and the hardcore MMO fans get flamed pretty quickly.

BUT, I am not againts MMO pricing, not at all. I understand the charges and all but its just that I dont find em fair. Sure I can get into deep gaming like 6-7 hours straight but not all the time, like some do. So, Ill like to have an option to getting charged hourly, so I have everything under control. I dont have trouble paying that 15$, but, its just not worth it for me jst as some other people.

But after all, sometimes I crave for these kinds of games (MMOs) so I guess I gotta get into one. But it seems too late to get into WOW and Conan has lots of cheaters I heard. That was Off topic, soz...
