Ah, good ol' Pikachu and Snorlax :D Every new DkS players nightmare...
Â
Solaire is nice to have around for the first part, but he ALWAYS dies for phase 2.
Â
Make sure you either fast roll or mid roll. Heavy armor isn't really gonna help you, the damage mitigation isn't as efficient as dodging and completely avoiding the damage. If you haven't done so, farm some souls to fully upgrade your weapon, if it is, change it and go with something else for this fight, preferably to something that slashes rather than thrusts (don't get me wrong, thrust weapons are still viable, just have a chance to miss during phase 2 as you'll sometimes thrust through their legs and deal 0 dmg).
Â
I don't know what your build is, or what type of weapons you're using, but in the area, there's the Silver Knight Sword, which you can upgrade with Twinkling Titanites sold by the Giant Blacksmith, it's going to require a little bit of farming though, it's not that bad, just kill all the Silver Knights (practice parrying on them to make it faster and to hone your parrying) and the Royal Sentinels, which give you an outright 3000 Souls (2 of them per spawn, so that's 6000, not to mention they also have a chance to drop Titanite Chunk), plus at least 2 mandatory Silver Knights to kill which give 1000 and an Archer Silver Knight, which gives 1300, so 1 run = 1 twinkling, you need 10 to fully upgrade the SKS, soooo 10 runs and that's it.Â
Â
Don't rush the fight, 1 hit (especially if you're using a slow weapon) and back off your target. It's going to take a while, but play it safe. You're going to learn that 1 small misjudgement will lead to death quite often in Dark Souls.
Â
Keep them both in your sight AT ALL TIMES. It might not sound like much, but it's quite important to have them both in your sight. Lock on to one and switch target when necessary.
Â
When Smough rushes you, just roll back over and over. Alternatively, you can try to dodge left/right to avoid him, but more often than not, he's been able to hit me when I've tried it. If you see Smough jumping up, run/roll away from it.
Â
Keep your shield down unless Ornstein rushes you. After you've blocked, strike once (it's going to do extra dmg because it's going to count as a counter-attack) then roll away, lower shield to regen Stamina and only bring it back up when Ornstein rushes back, other than that, just dodge roll out of it. Keeping your shield down lets you regen your stamina normally, keeping it up gives a penalty and severly reduces stamina regen.Â
Â
None of their attacks are parry-able, so don't bother. (Except for Ornsteins lightning bolt, but that's for people who are good at parrying and not really worth it as you still get hurt). Use the pillars to distant yourself and to avoid projectiles (from Ornstein) and Smough's rushes.
Â
Since you're going for Ornstein's armor, you're going to fight Super Ornstein. He's pretty much weak to very close range attacks. The longer you stay away from him, the higher the chances he's going to use his long range charge/projectiles. If you're close by, like licking his legs, he's going to do the backwards jump+forward slash, which you can dodge roll easily, or butt stomp, which you can roll away easily.
