hey guys i need a laptop (next year fall)

my needs are:

1. does NOT suddenly turn off or go to sleep on me (my previous HP laptop does this)

2. plays SC2 and D3 ( I do NOT need crazy or super high graphics. i can even play it on medium or something around there)

3. NOT super ridiculously expensive

does anyone have suggestions?!

thanks

i wish i couldve started with a better price range, but i am somewhat lost on how laptop prices were. hell im lost about comps in general.

i guess id prefer to use somewhere around 500-800. if NECESSARY i would pay maybe up to 900. but id really prefer to stay aruond there. (or cheaper if possible of course)..really all i need are

1. reliable (doesnt break down or shut down, stays running well

2. plays SC2 and D3 (does NOT have to be on super duper graphics. can be alright graphics. of course id like if it were somewhat decent but i dont wanna have to pay a premium for that)

thanks!

This looks decent enough and isn't expensive. It will definitely run the games you mentioned well.

Btw the automatic turn off and stuff is probably power management. That can be changed in the Windows 7 power management control panel.

Well, according to this website SC2 should run at medium settings fairly well.

Waiting for Black Friday probably would get you a better deal. There is no guarantee though.

does playing games at near the laptop's limit make the system more likely to break? or is that not an issue?

It makes it likely to run very hot which can, given enough time, damage certain components. This shouldn't become a major issue (unless you experience severe overheating which causes the laptop to shutdown/crash) because by the time the components are finished they will be very obsolete.

I've got a acer aspire 5750g with i5 sandybridge, 3gb ddr3, nvidia gt540m, and 640gb hd got it for £550 inc 3 year warranty, i did lots of research and you cant get any more bang for your bucks than a acer. mine runs gta4 on high, sc2 med/high, portal high. my cpu and gpu go upto 80C while running games on max but this is a normal level for a laptop cpu and gpu.

I seriously think you should try another HP. They have fantastic budget gaming laptops (750-800). I have pushed mine(graphics and temperature) to its limit for 18 hours straight with no problems. Also, their customer satisfaction is highest behind apple. You're less likely to run into another unsettling problem with HP than an alternative. btw i run starcraft 2 on ultra on mine (pavillion dv6.. 800$)is. the catch is the displays resolution is 1366-768.
