can the witcher be played without a cd?

so i am at the third chapter and i lost my cd (i took a break from playing about a month ago) i know its in my house, but as im waiting i noticed that the game statrs and loads my game without the cd in the drive. can the whole game be played like that? or will i regret playing it before i find my key because of corupt game files etc?

I believe you can play the entire game without the disc, afaik. Next time you boot the game with the Launcher, watch your Network startup icon. If it's at all similar to the digital download version, you'll see a transmission each time you start the game.

origonally i remember needing the disc to play the witcher. but since i upgraded to the enhanced edition (downloaded patch....didnt buy) i dont need the disc in there anymore.osan0
