Intel HD graphics 3000 is a huge bottleneck. There are many youtube vids from people with low end chips trying out different games, it might be worth checkinga out a few of them.

Which processor did you get?

The i5 will run both those games. The others probably not.

I have the HD2000 in a laptop, it's OK ... but way less than ideal for PC gaming. Maybe the 3000 is a better, but probably not much.

Quick question.. when I create a Steam Account and it asks to create a Steam username, does that mean its gonna be the name shown in games and online or just for the site itself?

Intel video chip is going to be a problem. Older versions of that chip sometimes won't even run L4D2. Don't know enough about Intel video chips to say if your's will be able to run L4D2, or not. Just seen threads about people crashing after the campain loads up and asking why, and they always list Intel as their graphic card. They also always say... "I can play L4D, Team Fortess and CSS fine, but why can't I play L4D2."

Steam Account names are unknown to everyone online. Community names can be changed at anytime once you setup your community profile. Until you do your handle will be Player.

Anyway... you'd need something like this and a decent desktop video card. Although, I bet it's cheaper just building a desktop.

You can change your steam nickname after the fact to whatever you wan that will be what people in chat and in games that use steamworks for mp. The account name is just the name you use to login to your account with no one but you will see that.

Below are the system specs of your laptop. In red are the areas that will cause you the most problems. In the future, look out for processor, ram, and video card. Those are the most important areas of building a decent gaming computer.

Dell Inspiron 15 - N5050 SpecsDisplay Diagonal Size : 15.6" Resolution : 1366 x 768 (HD) WLED True-Life Graphics Card Intel® HD Graphics 3000 Processor Type : Intel® Pentium® B950 processor Speed : 2.10 GHz Cache : 2M Type : Intel® Core i3-2330M processor Speed : 2.20 GHz Type : Intel® Core i5-2430M processor Speed : 2.40 GHz with Turbo Boost up to 3.00 GHz Chipset Intel® HM67 Express Chipset Memory Options : 2 GB 1 DIMM DDR3 1333Mhz 4 GB 1 DIMM DDR3 1333Mhz Storage Up to 500GB 5400 RPM hard drive Optical Drive Tray-load DVD+/-RW Communication WLAN & Bluetooth : Standard Combo Dell Wireless Card 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0+HS Audio Dell Audio - 2 speakers (2 Watt each) Built-in analogue microphone Interface 1 x Ethernet / RJ45 1 x HDMI 1 x VGA Port 3 x USB 2.0 1 x Headphone jack 1 x Microphone jack Slots Card Reader : 3-in-1 memory card reader Camera 0.3MP Power Battery : 6-cell 2.2 AHr Li-Ion Security Kensington lock slot Dimensions and Weight Width : 376.0 mm (14.8 inch) Depth : 260.0 mm (10.24 inch) Height : 31.52 mm - 34.53 mm (1.24 inch - 1.36 inch) Weight : starting at 2.37 kg (5.2 lbs) with 6-cell battery Operating System Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium SP1 64 bit

I would recommend getting a desktop with at least a core i5 processor, 8GB ram and a GTX 560 video card.

I'm pretty sure your laptop doesn't have on. These are what express card slot look like the larger one is 54mm and fits both types the smaller one is 34mm and only fits 34mm.

Just a quick recommendation.. should you be looking for a new laptop? I bought one not too long ago with awesome specs from a place called Novatech based here in the UK. My specs are: Novatech nSpire Pro 2430 - 15.6" Intel i5 2430 Mobile Processor - 8GB DDR3 - 750GB Seagate Momentus XT Hybrid SSD SATA Hard Drive - NVIDIA GT540M Graphics x 2. All I did was get a better audio card and I was good to go. Be sure to check out the clearance section too - Pretty good deals in there!
