Yes, I'm asking about a netbook.

Asus eee PC 1015PN

Intel Atom Dual Core N550 (1.5 ghz)

ION 2 dedicated graphics with 512 mb ram

1 gb ram (can be upgraded to 2 gigs)

Based on a number of YouTube videos, I know this netbook can smoothly run Modern Warfare 1 on low settings and can run WOW perfectly fine on medium, and that comparable netbooks can run Oblivion on Medium or so. However, all of the comparable netbooks were running different, slightly more powerful Atom cores. Will the N550 choke the game?

Maybe if you play at minimum settings... perhaps some settings at medium.

Maybe on low@1024x768, so why bother?

Oblivion only uses a single core on the CPU. The video card is very slow. You probably can play it but it won't look very nice.

the brazos netbooks should be releasing anytime now. They're supposed to perform better than the ion for games, so check them out when they release.

Don't try to game on a netbook unless you hate yourself and want to suffer.

netbooks aren't for gamers. They're for people who want long battery life and light weight computing on the go. Usually students/businessmen, travellers etc are the main market for netbooks.

u should be playing system shock 2 or unreal tournament (original). they are great games and will run great on there. even Deus Ex should be looked at. nothing like a low end computer to make u appreciate the classics.

There is no doubt you can run it with the "old blivion" mod. Don't remember well but if you google it you can find it ;-), you may not even need it who knows.

I think so. The old 1201n could run Crysis on lowest settings.

Definitely this. Seriously Morrowind is so much better than Oblivion. The graphics style looks better anyway with less power needed. Of course that might just be nostalgia.

Oblivion hasn't aged well at all. Morrowind on the other hand is doing OK. :)

Exactly what I mean. Oblivion just looks so generic and unispired. Morrowind on the other hand actually has an artstyle. I bet Skyrim will look good sicne it comes at the end of a generation instead of the beginning.
