Well a friend of mine will soon be celebrating his birthday, so I want to give him a computer game, and the guy said that he liked how assassins creed looked on my ps3

so I was wondering, If AC could be maxed on his PC? or maybe not maxed, but at REALLY cool graphics

so he got a desktop PC

windows vista

1gb video card (it's NVDIA, but I cant clearly remember the model...I think it was a 7800 or 7200)

intel core duo processor

2gb ram

and an HD monitor

the guy can Max games like stalker shadow of chernobyl and clear sky, and the sims 3, and age of empires 3

but I know that AC requires much more, so I would like to know if his PC could run it, or get him another game

well im not much of a PC gamer, so I really dont know...basically anything about that, but my memory tells me it was a 7200 or a 7800 so I guess that if the 7200 is the one with 1gb memory, then its that one and my brother said something about that card just has low gamma, or something like that

Something tell me it's the 7800, because I doubt the 7200 can play anything near max settings for Stalker.

Make sure you know what your getting before you buy it. Assassin's creed can really tax a PC believe it or not. With game's like Crysis, Bioshock and UT3 which really take the crown for system requirments, we often forget about games like AC.

What model is the Core 2 Duo?
If your on a budget I'd go for a 9600GT. I've seen it max out Crysis, so I'm sure it could max AC.
2GB of RAM on Vista should do fine, but you might want at least 3GB, thus freeing up the whole 2GB for gaming and the other 1GB will be used by Vista.

I wouldn't buy him AC for that PC though. Have him upgrade it first.
Another 1GB of RAM.
A 9600GT.

I believe it's geforce 7800, because there's no such stupid vendor release geforce 7200 with 1gb video memory... Yes you can max out AC at resolution 1280x1024, more than that NO...

a 7800 is at least 4-5 years old right? on max i doubt it could, maybe medium, and as mentioned above no higher than that res.

4gb ram, and a 9600 GT can play Crysis on medium with 2x AA alright, so them 2 upgrades i would recommend before purchasing such a game as assassins creed, although its based on the unreal engine 3 i think which is optimized well for consoles, it may be different on pc, thats not to say it wont run well :)

There is a HUGE difference between a 7200 and a 7800 which is why it's important that you know for sure which one he has. In fact, you definitely need to look again because there's no way you're remembering the correct card. There's no such thing as a 7800 with 1GB of VRAM, and there sure as hell isn't a such thing as a 7200 with 1GB of VRAM.

You can have a mediocre pc, but with a good video card the difference is day and night like putting a Windows Dvd into a microwave.

9400 is pretty weak, he should be able to handle it on medium on 1024x768 res, roughly.

At high without AA at 1024x768 res I cannot play AC smoothly with 8600gt... 9400gt is weaker than 8600gt, medium will run smoothly...

I know you probably have the gpu wrong, if that's the case and it's a good gpu, then he probably can max it out, or close to it.

if it is a 7800 close to max, 7200 will hardly run it. vram means nothing if the gpu is junk.

just because it says 9 in the name doesn't mean it is good. the 8800s will murder it and the 7800 is probably just as good if not slightly better.
