can you mix video cards??

I know this might sound dumb but i bought a XFX GeForce 8600 GT XXX and i wanted to know you could use it with a diffent NVDIA

card. Thx for the help

I dont know for sure, but I think the mem clocks of the cards have to be the same.

If you mean using one XFX 8600 and the maybe a Asus 8600...then yea, I THINK you can mix two different brands. If one has higher clock speeds than the other,the faster one will just be downgraded to the same speed as the slower one. If you mean mixing like a 8600 with a 7800 or something...then I highly doubt it.

AS long as its the same chip set (8800, 8600 etc.). They dont have to be clocked the same...and it is not recommended but you can have different memoery sizes too.

well with ati you can do like a 1950 with a 2600 but not with nvidia. now they do both have to be an 8600gts or gt i forgot which one you had.now as far as brands im helpless but im pretty sure you can mix xfx with evga or any other brand considering its the same chipset.

Previous to the 88xx series they had to be the same card, now they dont, as said above its not recommended to mix GPU's of different memory size.
