Personally I have not had a single problem on new games but it seems that I have huge problems with my old games. Many of them do not yet have any work around and I don't know if they ever will. I would do a dual installation with xp and vista if you want to play a lot of old games. I do really like vista a lot and I think it has a lot of good things going for it moving forward but it will probably never be great at backwards compatibility.

I havent had problems with vista either, but some other PC gamers are complaining about Windows Vista.

basically i've noticed the older a game is, the harder it is to get it running. i've had no problems with most games, i currently have puzzle quest, guilty gear reload#2, crysis and gears of war installed. however when i tried to install neverwinter nights it installs fine but then says "you don't have enough ram to run this game" which is funny since i have 3 gigs.

The only games I've had trouble with are The Movies and The Witcher.

I've had no problems with the games I've tried, but it is a bit hit and miss. Since you mentioned adventure games in your first post, I've seen reports of people not being able to run Still Life in Vista. However, certain versions of Vista can run it perfectly in compatibility mode, other versions can't. It seems "Will this run on Vista?" isn't a broad enough question.

It would be helpful if someone somewhere has created a site where this stuff's been tested. No idea if such a site or wiki exists though.

^ Final Fantasy 7, its all but been accepted as gospel that you have to install and uninstall a TON of stuff just to get into the game. Everybody i know of that has it (FF7) and runs it on Vista has to go thru insane measures just to get it to run. If you don't have to then congrats, you're in the top 0.01% of users.

Strange, I recently installed Neverwinter Nights with the two Add-ons in Vista, and it runs smoothly. And I got 2 gigs worth RAM.

^ which is crazy, honestly i tried it with prefetching turned on and superfetching turned on and since then i've turned it off but haven't reinstalled it yet. i question if freeing up the ram from the super/prefetching might make it "ok"
