depends on how much you want to commit to the game

if you plan on going all the way and collect purples with a high-end guild the answer is no

Trust me, I quit WoW for this reason, after 8 months collecting purples

Of course you can. Why wouldn't you? Unless you're some obsessive weirdo, it's no different than playing any other game.

Well one of my friends plays WoW and still finds time to party, hang out, f*** his girlfriend, and do other things. So yeah you can still have a life. Depends on how much of a life you had before you started playing WoW.

It depends on how good you want your character to be.  If you want it to be competitive, it's gonna take a massive commitment of time.  If you just want to play for fun, then of course you can have a life.

If you want to be in the top percentages then no.

If you just want to play and have fun then yes.

WoW's "Keepin up with the Joneses" factor is what gets really addicting for some people.  Just pace yourself and don't get obsessed with seeing everyone else with better gear that you want for yourself.

I'm thephoenix365 and I'm a wowaholic......i've been clean for 1 month and counting.
But on a serious note i think it is hard under certain circumstances.  For example im a 4th year student at university doing Physics, and it is neigh on impossible for me to meet deadlines, do the amount of work needed etc.....AND find the hours to get to 70 with any reasonable speed.  I thus feel left out as friends with time to dedicate to the game pass by me in level and as such i have to solo for a large amount of the game.
If you have a high powered or long hours job then you would have to sacrifice an "outside" social life in order to commit large hours to WoW and so you have to trade off.  It's not really pick up and play!

In the words of a very wise forum-goer:

That depends; are you a moron?

Indeed, just avoid hardcore instancing. Level at your own pace and of course, "Hardcore" guilds are not recommended.

Like they said avoid the big raids that take forever just so you can get some armor thats slighty better than what you had before. Also find other games. I also play Nhl 2007 and command and conquer 3 right now.

Umm depends on how deeply involved in the game you get, and how much self control you have.  Not too many wow players have that.

Yes, just balance your time and dont start giving up other events to do something in game.
