can you put a serial ATA into a computer that only has parallel ATA?

my computer only has parallel ATA and the highest HDD i can get is 500GB but with serial ATA i can get up to 2 TB. can you get serial ATA in the pc with only parallel ATA?

Yes, I believe you can buy an expansion card for SATA slots.

correct you can get external sata ports.. regretably there man pata is a OLD system.. its clunky and unreliable. PATA on anything recent should be outlawed :P

so yeah thats where your at atm.. there is good news however IDE is backward compatible with most of its old standards in the evnt you have an ide port and a ribbon cable for it.

Not really. And as for the TC, you can either get an sATA expansion card, you could get an adapter to change your sata drive to pata.

you could set up a fiber channel raid array, those things are dirt cheap nowadays, and as long as you have to buy a card anyways, it might be worth looking into...
