I don't play indie games, whenever I do they tend to be rubbish. However 'Keplar Space Program' is a crazy fun rocket building game where you actually get to fly it after you have built it.

And will try SMB,heard it's very difficult, but never actually played it...

It is quite difficult but the difficulty curve is very gradual and it's very rewarding. Some levels are borderline impossible but these are bonus levels (of which there are dozens and dozens).

That is fine,I like a good challenge,as long as it isn't a cheap one.For example,I enjoyed Demon's Souls very much on the PS3,and now I'm looking forward to Dark Souls PC version. Both games are difficult, and require practice and patience, but the challenges are very fair...

I didn't really like Demons Souls because you had to repeat the same thing over and over again. SMB is similar in that sense but the levels are much, much shorter so I found it much more bearable. Also, the controls are simply outstanding, extremely responsive and accurate.

Yeah,at some points Demon's Souls can become somewhat repetative, that is true, but I still loved it very much, and find it to be one of the best action RPSs I've ever played...

And glad to hear about responsive controls in SMB,I find that very important in games.Imprecise and clumsy controls heavily degrade my gaming experience, which is why I find console FPS unenjoyable to play, controller analog sticks don't offer me the same level of control as my gaming mouse does...

Most if not all the games in the humble indie bundle.

Go to humblebundle.com, spend more then the average, and boom. For $9 you get Amnesia, Bastion, Limbo, Braid, Super Meat Boy and a couple others, all of these some of the best indie games ever.

IMO, Mount & Blade is the king of indie games. Absolutely huge semi-realistic medieval sandbox RPG with awesome combat and multiplayer. Started by a husband and wife dev team in Turkey if I recall correctly. The whole series is on sale right now on Steam, but I recommend just picking up Mount & Blade: Warband. I've put a few hundred hours into the singleplayer and a few thousand hours into the multiplayer. And there are dozens of awesome mods to download as well. One example is a massive LoTR total conversion.

I'll second this. Mount and Blade Warband all the way. It is especially good for online fighting with the CRPG mod. I had more fun with that game than I ever did with COD or BF3.

You may want to give some specifics before asking for "good" indie games. Otherwise, you would be attracting indie game fans to spam all over this thread about their favorite games and not necessarily games that you may like.

(And I want to point out here that Orcs Must Die! is indeed not your kind of game, especially if you don't like obnoxious protagonists - please see illustration.)

Of course, they might just spam anyway. :P

Anyway, I had to look through your posts in this thread and your profile to make a recommendation.

You may want to have a look at Aquaria, if you haven't gotten the game already. Its gameplay is probably sophisticated for you, but I have to warn you that the combat in that game is under-developed. It has a complete story (no loose ends and sh*t like that), no annoying DLCs and such other things if you happen to despise current game-making trends.

937798_20071210_640screen010.jpg

Obligatory screenshot for optional embellishment.

There is a demo for that game, and if you want to listen to the soundtrack, there's a free-to-stream album over at Bandcamp.

P.S. If you are curious about this, then you may want to know that while there is a game-page for this game, GameSpot (under Jeff Gerstmann's stewardship at the time) had overlooked the game.

And I like your suggestion, haven't played it.Art style looks nice, and if it isn't too combat focused, there shouldn't be any problems.Glad these smaller developers give us demos, makes it easier to decide, remids me of how things used to be in the industry some time ago. Will DL when I have the time...

Okay, so you won't have a problem with being spammed, I suppose...?

Well, unfortunately, Aquaria will involve combat - and you are going to find out that many fights are best resolved by swimming around to dodge crap while spamming away homing projectiles. There are plenty non-combat sequences and puzzles though.

That said, you may want to try out Binding of Isaac.

636662_20111121_640screen009.jpg

Yes, this is the game's take on Bomberman.

I should warn you that the game has many minor problems - many enough to annoy me at least. (I wrote a user review for that game, by the way. I am not going to plug a link here though.)

That, and Edmund McMillen resorted to premium DLC to place a price tag on the game's second major expansion.

----

Flying Wild Hogs / Hard Reset Dev. got a nice publishing deal from Kalypso Media (It's a thriving Publisher that started in 2006, if you asking.)

following their growing popularity since original release.

----

Hard Reset got a lot of criticism for being too short, that's why Extended Edition will add new gameplay elements, new level, new boss character, bug fix, updated graphic, and retail version. basically its like The Witcher Enhanced Edition.

----

it looks like it will come to Steam (eventually), and rumour has said it will be free for those who already purchased original game.

:D

:D

----

Does Flying Wild Hogs have an actual forum because I do not seem to find it at first glance.

You mentioned Braid. Played Aquaria yet? Pretty awesome system

That was the plan, get a lot of suggestions, check them out for more info, and see which ones I find interesting :)

And I like your suggestion, haven't played it.Art style looks nice, and if it isn't too combat focused, there shouldn't be any problems.Glad these smaller developers give us demos, makes it easier to decide, remids me of how things used to be in the industry some time ago. Will DL when I have the time...

Lol yes. This. To be exact. She's one heck of powerful mermaid. Think God of War meets Metroid Meets The ACTUAL story of the Merfolk. Clearly you have someone here who knows how awesome it is. my computer can't handle the multiple flash entities at the moment. SO I am missing my Aquaria but I still have my installer.

That may be an exaggeration, but that's much too far from what the game is like. The combat is more like a shoot-'em-up than either God of War or Metroid.
