[QUOTE="dackchaar"]Same for me :P My parents always bought the PC at my home so I could suggest them to get something good to play games but that was about it. Got my E8400+4850 last Fall :)well I'm still using my first build, so yes :P (just built it a year ago)
MonsieurX
same for me :D
MonsieurX are you french?
:)
I have a memory like an elephant I remember ever single piece of hardware that I've used to build with.
My first computer (back in 2004):
CPU: Athlon 64 3000+ 2.0 GHz 512K L2 cache
Motherboard: MSI K8N Neo Platinum, Nforce 3 chipset, socket 754
RAM: 256MB PNY DDR400 (sad I know but I didn't know much back then)
Hard Drive: 40GB Maxtor Diamondmax ATA/133, 2MB cache
Video Card: MSI Geforce FX 5200 (also sad)
Optical drive: Memorex CDRW burner IDE
Generic case and generic 400 watt power supply (which ending up failing and taking my motherboard)
well im still using it since i just built it a month ago :P gtx 295, core i7 920 processor, msi x58m motherboard, 6gb's of ocz gold edition ddr3 ram, that is mah set up :)

I'm from Quebec,so that explains it ;)On my first ever build too, it's all in the sig.
CAPGOD
Well I've had PCs for a while... upgraded them here and there by myself... but the first one I built ground up was...
2800+ Athlon XP Barton Core (OCd to 2.4ghz OMGZZZ) 512kb cache!!
x850 Ati
2gb PC3200 OCZ RAM
NFS-7 Motherboard (best of mobo for XP)
SoundBlaser Live SoundCard
Antec earth watts 550
This machine was actually pretty solid and can still run a lot of the latest games.
Now I'm running (just built it a week ago)
Phenom II 550be (not OCd yet. Could not unlock to quad but still a beast)
4870 512mb (was going to buy 1gb but realized I didn't need it)
4gb Kingston 1333mhz RAM
ma477td Pro ASUS Mobo (sickkkk motherboard for the price brand new AM3+ Crossfire 2oz copper)
550 watts OCZ Fatality (I know it's fatality... but for the price it's a solid PSU that's modular pretty damn happy with it).
Really happy with this PC. When I build a PC I try to build it best bang for the buck.
old amd with geforce 3 16 mb and 256 memory. back before pci express and multiple cores. back when dual processors were startin to be impressive
Nvidia 5200 agp card, 256mb of ram 40gig HDD and a AMD 2200+ cpu. That was back when doom 3 came out. Few months ago i did a major upgrade on my pc..
Now i got
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 2.83GHz 12MB-cache CPU
Asus Rampage Formula Intel X48 PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
BFG GeForce GTX 285 (PCI-Express) Graphics Card
Corsair XMS2 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 PC2-8500C5 TwinX Dual Channel
Akasa AK-P085FG-BK 850W PowerMax Power Supply
Back in 1996. Pentium 100mhz, 8mb ram, cirrus logic 1mb graphics card, aztec sound card, 1gb hard drive, quad speed cd-rom, 17in crt monitor, windows 95. Cost me around £1600:lol:
Should have gone full size ATX, got some good cooling and taken that PH II near 4ghz ;)[QUOTE="CAPGOD"]On my first ever build too, it's all in the sig.
X360PS3AMD05
lol, to be honest I have seen zero perfomance boost in games even after overclocking it from 3.1 to 3.52. This CPU even has two dormant cores which I may be able to unlock to create a cheap quad core, but based on some comparisons I feel it's still not even worth the bother trying.
And I already had an m-ATX case lying around from a cheapo pre-built PC i'd been using for 5 years, so I thought why not re-use it? I may as well save the money I would have spent on a new case and put it towards a 4890. It's a nice enough design, not tacky in any way - I just cleaned off all the dust and unpeeled the old stickers. It was a tight fit though with today's massive GPU sizes, I can tell you that, but it all seems to run stable and doesn't have any glaring issues that a boost in fan speed can't fix lol. Very happy with it overall.
My first full-custom build from scratch was only a few years ago (2006), but i'd been messing with other computers from many years before that.
My first full-solo build was:
Core 2 Duo E6600
Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 mobo
2GB G-Skill PC6400 RAM
XFX 8800GTX
Antec P180i Case
320GB WD SATAII HDD
Antec TruPower Trio 550w PSU.
I've had 2 computers since then :)
Well let's see...if I remember it was something like this,
an Athlon 3000+ @ 1.1Ghz, 512mb of Corsair DDR memory (can't remember the speed), a WD 80GB HHD, an Nvidia FX5200, an ECS K7S5A socket A MB, a cheapy SB audio card, a SONY CD-ROM optical drive and some kind of crap 400w PS...all packed into a crappy Compaq case that I bought my 1st PC in as a refurb. ( which I did get with an awesome Compaq 19" CRT monitor) that thing was really, really nice ! ...hench, since then I've made several upgrades and PC builds........The closet in my den (PC room) looks like a warehouse for used PC parts.....:P
*+
The first Pc I got was an at&t and I added to it. Pentuim 133mhz, 48mb of ram 2.1 Gb Hdd and 1mb onboard video.
The first Pc I built was a AMD K6-2 450mhz 128mb of ram and a 12mb Voodoo 2 and two Hdd's 13 gb and a 6.4gb.
