Can you trap zombies in minecraft?

As the title says can you trap zombies so that they stay there . For example i have made a glass room in my house and have got a zombie in there but i died and when i came back he was gone. I did have a ladder not sure if they can use them. So anyone know if its possible?

Well if the sun shined on the glass the zombie should die.

If you walk a certain distance away from the zombie and come back it will be gone. Same for animals, other monsters and boats.

Thats a shame was looking forqrd to having my own little zombie farm :( thanks for the info anyway

If you find a spawner for zombies under ground you could create your own little set up.
