Can you upgrade video cards in laptops

I dont have one but I was just wondering. And if so whats the best GPU for it.

its doable but not easy and not recommended

they arent built to be swappable

as far as i know the 7950GTX is the best card, but nvidia has released the new 8 series cards and im not sure how they stack up

it may be the 8700M you'll have to compare

the only things that can really be upgraded in laptops these days are memory, and the hard drive.

best laptop gpu out at the moment is the 8800m gtx

In 90% of the cases you can't change the card, I don't know if your laptop supports a stand alone video card

more like 99.9 laptops sold can have the gpu removed, basically its totally possible but laptop companies dont want you to be able to...because if you could change it then you wouldn't need to buy a new laptop i.e. they dont want you too cut of the middle man like people do when they build rigs.

EDIT: my spelling is so awful these days :p

yeah, i was going to say. Its like marketing trick to keep you in stores from time to time
