I am trying to install an internet connection on my newly built gaming PC. I am using a D-Link router (DIR-615) and trying to create a wired connection through ethernet from the router. I was previously using the same router and the same ethernet cable to connect it. So I insert the router's software into the DVD drive, begin installation and once it prompts me to insert the ethernet cable and click "Next" I do so and an orange light comes on in the ethernet port on the I/O panel to, I assume, confirm that it has been connected inside. However once I finally click "Next" a pop up window comes up saying "No Ethernet Adapter found! Please check your network connections." I tried the other ethernet port and got the exact same message. I also have my PS3 connected through ethernet on the same router and that works just fine, so why won't my PC? All the four green lights on the router are on, so there is no problem with it.

Why is it saying this and what can I do to sort this out?

I don't really see how it would make a difference but install your ethernet chipset drivers and make sure in the control panel that your ethernet ports are both enabled.

How do I install my ethernet chipset drivers?

EDIT: Also how do I find the options in control panel to see if the ethernet ports are enabled.

One more thing, can this be due to not having installed the CD that came with my motherboard?

Strange. My gigabyte mobo just recognized the internet connection. No drivers. Its seems strange that in 2011, some new motherboards don't recognize an ethernet... :?

Ok after installing the drivers from the motherboard's software everything now works fine. I have now run in to some other problem which I am too tired to deal with right now so I shall make a topic about it tomorrow.
