I recently ran the Network Setup wizard in hopes of having the ability to share files with my brother, after having done this (didn't even work), I noticed when I tried pinging my lan ip it would time out. I can ping the router fine, so this is pretty pointless, but it's kind of annoying, and I want to get to the bottom of it. I'm assuming having ran the wizard might of caused the problem since this has never happened before.

Get like a switch for that instead ofa router. So plug te switch into your router, and plug your computers in the switch.

There's absolutely no reason why you would need to use a switch on top of a home router to do basic file sharing.  You can accompish this with a home router by itself.

Well the thing is, my dad knows how to get sharing working, but it doesn't seem to work on my PC (after I ran the wizard), not too mention I would need a pretty long cord considering my router is 2 floors below my PC. That's besides the point: something's stopping me from pinging myself, and others pinging me.
