I got my new custom PC today and tried to install 6 or so games. All did not work, tried most of them 3 times, and half of them are brand new, no scratches. I'm running on vista 32bit version.I also tried to install some window's updates and 9 out of 13 failed.
The problem is that it windows is telling me that a certain file cannot be read, or is corrupt, something along those lines. It keeps on giving me this "error 1335", something that has to do with a cab file. I tried looking on other forums, and some people install new updates, or certain downloads from windows, but get this.... those updates and downloads don't install, the error comes up. I'm just thankful my old linksys software installed on this.
I'm thinking that the problem is linked to the hard drive, for a few reasons. Its saying it cannot install a certain file, or read it, it just cant put it on the hard drive. It cant be the DVD drive because some from online just don't work, like this one program that finds drivers for you and deletes them. I also got this error "component COMCTL32.OCX" or one of its dependencies not correctly registered", and thats just from installing a simple independent windows program, no bigger than 20mb.
I'm using a wester digital 320 gb hard drive and a Pioneer 20x DVDRW (DVR-256DBK). Drivers for both are from June of 2006. I have the vista Home Premium 32bit version CD and key also. Anyone have ideas?
