Can't log into steam...WTF?

whenever i go to launch steam and i log in it's saying "fatal error: failed to load platform modules"

it's been working fine for 3 months and now all of a sudden when portal is free i cant freakin download it, just my luck....lmao

so yea, i'm computer dumb when it comes to these errors....any help would be appreciated

GRR..i thought this would be it...but there isn't any steam.exe's open in my processes tab whatsoever

I think it's because everyone's trying to download Portal for free.

Edit: I just closed, re-opened, and logged back in without a problem. Must be something on your end.

Same here... I launch steam... It says "Connecting to account" and then I get an error that says it couldn't connect and I should check my connection... Well obviously my connection works...

i can log in, but i cant play tf2 or css or download anything because it tells me steam servers are too busy to take my request. i hope it gets fixed by tomorrow.

been awhile now...still nothing :(

I had some fatal error problem not so long ago (can't remember if it was this exact error), and couldn't get onto steam. I deleted a file in the steam folder called ClientRegistry.blob, and it fixed my problem. Basically I think it let me update steam from scratch (the file should just get created again when you start steam, but I suggest making a backup of the file just in case).

They just updated it to add mac content, I'm using it right now.

you guys think unintalling and reinstalling will work?

and will uninstalling it make me have to redownload all my games again since it's tied to steam? i'm not sure how that works

well it wasn't even a solution on steams solutions to this problem...lol, so i didn't know if i should do it or not
