Are these cards not supposed to be able to reach 700 core easily? With the ATI artifact finder i can't push past 680 on my core w/o an artifact (not even 680.8). What's the deali?

Load temps are ~75

Not all cards are going to be great overclockers, which is what you're experiencing. There should be other options open to you but I'm not sure. I'm not familiar with 8800gt cards. The core may probably need more voltage, which either requires a physical voltage mod or flash it with a new bios that has a higher default vcore setting.

Oh yea. Just because you're getting artifacts with ATI tool doesn't mean you'll see any in game. However if ATI tool makes you feel comfortable, then so be it.

Not all cards can hit 700+, everyone is different. You shouldn't even need to overclock with SLI 8800GT on a 19" monitor anyway.

Lesson learned: Don't let ATI Tool be the deciding factor in my overclock...

So i'm guessing the only way i'll really be able to "test" the stability of my overclock is to game hours on end?
