Any benchmarks of the 4870 yet?

It's still under NDA, so no, no benchmarks, although ATI's official slides say that it will out perform the GeForce 9800 GTX by a 40% margin. EDIT: I misread the slide, 40% better than the 9800GTX, not the GX2.Marfoo
9800GX2 is as fast as the GTX 280 and how much faster is the 9800GX2 than the 9800GTX?

A good margin. If the 4870 even comes close to the GX2, expect Nvidia to drastically drop the price on the GX2.

It better not!
The 4870 is supposed to be closer to the gtx280.
No it isnt. Its actually suppose to be up against the 9800gtx, the HD 4850 is suppose to be up against the 8800gt.
Get your facts straight mate.
how much faster is the GX2 compared to the 260 ? Which would perform better for the price ?Mtnes9800 GX2 and a GTX 280 have very similar performence.
EDIT: GX2 is probably 20% faster

Since when is the 4850 going against 8800GT which is quite a bit cheaper.[QUOTE="Jamiemydearx3"][QUOTE="McJugga"][QUOTE="Jamiemydearx3"]I think a HD 4870 and a GTX 260 will have very similar performence.Spybot_9

Since when is the 4850 going against 8800GT which is quite a bit cheaper. ..Since ATI said it...
"We've heard that Radeon HD 4850 will be positioned against G92-based 8800GT and that Radeon wins in this performance game.
Nvidia sells 8800GT at a U.S. suggested e-tailprice of $179, and we believe that ATI will match this price with RV770PRO or eventually sell it for $10 less.
Performance-wise, RV770XT aka Radeon HD 4850, should completely win against 8800GT and we also heard that it should win against non-overclocked 9800GT cards, but we still don't know the overclocking limits of 9800GT cards, as these might end up faster than ATI's offering.
8800GTX/9800GTX will win against Radeon 4850, but they are the other price category that is much closer or level with the price of Radeon 4870."
Somewhat dated article...But yea thats how it was meant to be. Btw HD 4850 does beat out a 9800gtx and 8800gtx.

true but looking at the benchmarks youll definitly notice that hd4850 is beating 9800gtx in price and peformance .

This all depends. I personally switched from a GX2 to a GTX 280 and I'm noticing very stable performance in areas where my GX2 lacked; high res gaming at 2560x1600.
I honestly will never take any of these charts from AMD or nvidia seriously again.Spybot_9
Good idea, just do what i do and go by reviews.
