Yo dawgs. I updated my capture card drivers, and now the performance is better, but I'm still having issues. When I capture using the software that comes with the capture card, I get a really bad lag between when an image is displayed and when I press a button on my controller (P'S. 2 recording). But when I use PowerDirector, I get no lag, but some audio issues. I think the problem is more of a Vista thing, because the software that comes free with the capture card is a joke, so I don't care much about that one. What I do want is to have the recording be perfect when I'm recording in a program like PowerDirector. This audio problem I'm getting is kind of weird, because I can't tell if it's Vista's audio output coding or if it's the fact that the version of PowerDirector I have is a demo. version, which is of less quality (Can't even go in full screen). I do have the latest Windows Updates. So is it my sound settings or is it the fact that the program is just downgraded because of the free version? Thanks muches.

I'd really appreciate it if someone helps me out with this problem. I've been asking this same topic for like weeks, and nobody ever helps.

It's Hauppauge. Supposedly, they're a good brand. It seems to be okay, I mean...it's just that when I go into the capture settings of PowerDirector and try to adjust the audio setting, it........doesn't show anything. It basically shows this: Audio device: Hauppauge. Audio input: ____________ And it doesn't list anything under audio input. There's a dropdown menu there, but if I click on it, nothing shows up. So where does the problem lie?

Your asking on a PC forum. You might have better luck elsewhere, or maybe even try asking Hauppage.

So which GameSpot forum board should I be choosing if not "P.C. hardware discussion"?

I would say gamespot is not the place to ask this question. Capture cards are pretty specialized hardware. Or try emailing Hauppage.

Whenever I e. mail a company for technical help, they never reply... I'm asking on GameSpot because, well, it's a gaming site, and this is a gaming related question. I'm sure a lot of people here love to capture their gaming footage and upload it online somewhere. I just want to do the same, but I need to ask the people who already know how to do it properly,.

I have mailed Hauppage before, and they were responsive, but it was while ago. Also, your question isn't really gaming related. If you replaced your PS2 with a none game source, its not gaming problem. Have you tried any other software? Maybe something like Dscaler?

I do want to get new software, as PowerDirector isn't letting me play in fullscreen, anyway. I need to see what I'm playing clearly if I'm going to record. But I just need to know if it will work even with new software. Like, I don't want to buy new software only for the problem to not be the software I'm using, but something else.

Well, dscaler is free, but fairly limited... But it should at least help figure out if the problem is power director, or something else like Vista.

DScaler doesn't support my capture card. I checked their supported cards page. Do you think my problem is a result of using an analog cable as opposed to a D.V.I.D. cable? I just noticed that PowerDirector has 2 different capture sections; analog and digital. I'm in the analog section. I don't know if that makes a difference with audio, though.

Sorry I didn't get back to you quickly. But if it's game footage you are trying to do,try using xfire.I have a Pinnicle Pro card, much like your's.They are always buggy at best, and really only good for watching tv on you computer.
