As the subject says, is this possible? I have the original game, but it simply says 'Not working on Windows NT' when I try to start it. I have of course tried the Compability-tab with 95 and 98/Me support, but it makes no different.

I have searched for solutions but I was unable to find anyone myself - hopefully someone out there is smarter than me.

Search for a No-Cd crack, then use that instead... Its a problem with the default .exe file and a cracked version should fix your problem

I think we all can agree on that we need a new Carmageddon game.

Yeah, that would be nice :)

There's a new one in the works. You can find some info on it here on GS.

Nevermind I found more info elsewhere saying that Carmageddon 4 was cancelled. :(

Try running simply Carma2_hw.exe instead of carma2.exe. That might work, although my copy of Carma2_hw.exe might be rigged. I downloaded a patch to make this game work under XP with a gamepad. The patch included GlideFX and a rigged copy of Carma2_hw.exe. Now, I have GlideFX installed and when I run Carma2_hw.exe under Vista, the game works with a gamepad and with sound. If anyone's interested, I've uploaded that patch here (http://rapidshare.com/files/83882034/carma2PatchAndGlideWrapper.zip.html). Install GlideWrapper and replace your current copy of Carma2_hw.exe with the one in this zip file. (Of course, make a backup copy of your current Carma2_hw.exe just in case). Then right-click Carma2_hw.exe, and click the Compatibility Tab. Check "Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows XP Service Pack 2". Also check "Run in 640x480 screen resolution". I have everything else unchecked. Click ok, then double-click on Carma2_hw.exe and cross your fingers!

-Cheers.

Yeah it was announced like 4 or 5 years ago and they didn't release anymore info on the game after that announcement. A Carmageddon game with today's technology would be amazing, but it doesn't look like it is going to happen.

It seems like he only targets popular games. I don't know if Carmageddon would be very popular these days, but since the car combat genre is basically dead I'm sure it would spark some interest. Carmageddon 2 is one of my favorite games and I would love to see Carmageddon 4 be released. However isn't SCI basically dead now?

True, it seems asthough development of the game has died. And true that Jack only goes after popular titles - guess thats why Postal seemed to go under his radar.

A new Carma would be fantastic.... I pretty much gew up playing the series, along side others like MechWarrior (another franchise that needs to be ressurected - which just might ) - and it still is a hoot playing them (minus TDR200).

Still the source material of the game was awesome, so its no wonder the Carma series is so great.

I have never seen Death Race 2000, but after I found out that Carmageddon was based off of it, I want to see it. Anyway I did enjoy TDR2000 to some degree, but when you compare it to the other games in the series it just doesn't come anywhere close to them. Also I agree, MechWarrior needs to be resurrected and MechCommander needs to comeback too.

Its a hard DVD to come by nowdays, though im sure it'll be on ebay, or floating around the internet.
Indeed TDR2000 was ok - was fun no doubt -but did lack other redeeming qualities of the other two. And why did they try and implement a story into it.... As for a new MW - it would be damn amazing - hopefully its more along the lines of MW3, mixed with MW4 Mercenaries. A new Mech Commander complimenting it would be awesome. Even better would be a new MechWarrior, that mixed both Mech Commander elements into MW gameplay - so you could order around units as in Mech Commander - in real-time - similar to Operation Flashpoint / ArmA - or like the original ghost recon.

Many thanks to you reponzo01! I Just got it working on my vista laptop with what you've suggested; although in my case I needed to keep the resolution the same or else it just went visually crazy. Regardless, thanks a lot!

Dude, due to your post, I got the C2 demo's sound to work in Vista. I ran the Carma2_D3D.exe file instead of carma2.exe and now the sound works! Thank you! It's fun to play quick games to get some aggression out!

another detail for some people having a problem starting the game after running a glide program, patching, and using the no-cd option, if your still having issues after this, check to see if you have a USB gamepad plugged in, if so, unplug it, for some reason Carmageddon 2 does not like USB gamepads on vista
