So is this like international-game-development-bad-news-day or something?

First STALKER and now this?

In truth I don't feel very sorry for the Witcher dev (never liked it really) but more for THQ who seem to be losing just in a time when they're in dire need of a good franchise to pull them out of their financial woes.

Shame for THQ, CDP was extremely random if all that Bandai claimed since day 1 is like that.

Yes. All we need now is Arma 3 being cancelled and I think I can stop gaming.

How is this bad news? CDP broke a contract and is punished for it.

So much for the cocky attitude they had when this started...

Very sad news, when you consider they did this for their fans and are one of the few quality PC devs out there.

thats not bad news at all. But I hate how they throw in that estimated piracy figure. The one where they figured averag internet connections would torrent their 16 game in a few hours.

they broke a publishing agreement for their fans? I think you should read it. Also, there are tons of great pc devs out there.

DRM removal, it wasn't specifically mentioned in the article but that was also part of the lawsuit. Tons of great PC developers? If you say so.

it has to do with the 360 version anyway, which looks like it might just go vaporware.

So a company that had the publishing rights first sued CDProjekt because CDProjekt gave the rights too another company? Sound fair too me. The only sad thing here is CDProjekt's ignorance/stupidity.

As much as I like CD Project as a developer and find it sad that they got into this situation, I don't think it's right to defend them either. I'm fairly sure the verdict is right (I tried to find some more detailed information about the case but couldn't). If Namco had the rights from the beginning there is nothing that should change it unless they are willing to give it up. I find it weird that companies are even able to make errors like this. Of course CD Project will get sympathy on gaming forums thanks to their DRM policy and whatnot, but right is right.

And they won't, the only company that gets hurt and it shouldn't is THQ, because of CDP.

THQ? I'm pretty sure the publisher is Atari, not THX for Witcher 2...

THQ was the people CD wanted to have publish, but since they lost the suit to Namco, THQ won't be publishing the game

Then I'm also pretty sure you read nothing about this, it's about the rights to publish the game for the Xbox version, CDP made a contract with Namco-Bandai then they went to THQ to do the same thing. Lemons have nothing to do with a discussion about apples and oranges.

So somewhere along the line, Namco Bandai must have treated CDPR badly so they sought after another publisher, namely THQ. That backfired and it is now back in the hands of Namco Bandai. CDPR is wrong. We all know that. But I'd like to know the motive of these misguided actions by CDPR. I love them but they were breaking a contract.

Not only. Namco wasn't happy about CDPR removing the copy protection via patch but IIRC the court decided it wasn't Namco's business to decide that.

They deserve it, they made an agreement to someone and then backstabbed them by going somewhere else, serves them right.
