Ichabfed my cpu due to my motherboard dying, I didn't want to break the bank so I got a i5 4460 (not unlocked so I won't be over clocking)

Will I notice any difference in comparison to my old fx 8350 ?

There was some games I was sure my fx 8350 was struggling, escpaicially ones that are not using all it'd cores.

It's not a world beating cpu, but will there be any noticeable difference in gaming compared to my old fx 8350?

The games that only use 1-4 threads you will see some big differences in performance. The games that are coded well using 6/8 threads you are not going to see much difference.

@04dcarraher: that's good about what I was expecting and hoping for.

Can you take a look at the video and tell me what you think it is, I can't figure it out I think I've disturbed something while swapping cases

done that, they seemed fine.

Its stopped since I updated me driver, it tried to upgrade the geforce experience programme but screwed that up and I got a run time error.

Problems started then, I have reinstalled Ge Force experience and updated driver seems to have sorted it.

Hoping I might see a difference in FSX, that game is notorious for being reliant on good single core performance.

the vid does seem like a momentary signal failure, culprit: gpu driver, gpu hardware, cable or the hdmi port

@thehig1: Since you changed to Intel mobos, you didn't accidently connect the monitor/TV with CPU's iGPU in the motherboard, did you?

Cause this seems like the awesomeness of Intel GPU drivers. :P

@Coseniath: no it was connected to my 970, the lead would only fit into the 970 because the 970 has that mini HDMI output that wasn't on my motherboard.

Problem looks to have gone now after updating driver

I was wondering if the stock cooler is enough, I needed a decent after market cooler for my fx8350 even without over clocking.

Bear in mind I can't over clock this CPU so will the stock cooler be enough ?

stock will most likely be fine when you dont oc, obviously aftermarket would be more silent, those small fans spin like crazy

yeah your right about that.

@thehig1: As @howmakewood said, you don't need an aftermarket cooler unless you want a more silent one.

There is an other possibility that you might need a better cooler even if you will not overclock and its when you live in very hot places...

ps: Yeah the problem was screaming "driver problem" from miles away (thats why I bet it would be Intel drivers cause they sux), its good that you solved it with just a driver update.
